Out with the old and in with the new! We’re about to start another season of anime! Right off the bat, the Winter 2021 season looks stacked with a lot of good anime.
Title: Skate-Leading Stars
Synopsis: After his rival Reo Shinozaki told him “You’ll never beat me,” Kensei Maeshima quit figure skating. Flash-forward, he is now a high school student. He makes use of the skills he honed in figure skating to help out various clubs, but he can’t find it in his heart to devote himself completely to any of them.
One day, he sees a press conference where Shinozaki announces that he will be switching from single skater to skate-leading, an original figure skate team competition. A boy suddenly appears in front of Maeshima, who knows his past as a single skater and invites him into the world of skate-leading.

First Thoughts: Do I need to say more?! It’s an ice-skating anime. Of course I am going to watch it! I think this is the one I am most excited about!
Title: Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town
Synposis: Lloyd is a novice adventurer who’s dream is to discover “true strength” in the capital he’s always admired, despite growing up with neighbors who always considered him weak. The story starts with him departing from his hometown, which just so happens to be located right next to…one of the most dangerous dungeons in the world?! Lloyd may think of himself as powerless, but when he goes to the city that serves as the starter town for adventurers, the difference between him and everyone else couldn’t be starker!

First Thoughts: I think this looks like a keeper just from the title itself. That title is definitely something! I’m looking forward to this one.
Title: Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki
Synopsis: Tomozaki is one of the best gamers in Japan, and in his opinion, the game of real life is one of the worst. No clear-cut rules for success, horribly balanced, and nothing makes sense. But then he meets a gamer who’s just as good as him, and she offers to teach him a few exploits.

First Thoughts: This has “trash” written all over it, so that means Rugjen and I will MOST DEFINITELY be giving this show a shot.
So far, these are my top three new/original anime shows for the Winter 2021 season, but to be honest, there are at least four others that easily could have made my list. Other shows I am going to watch are:
- Horimiya
- Otherside Picnic
- The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter
- So I’m a Spider, So What?
- Redo of Healer
