Brief Summary
Nishimura-san has been bullied and ostracized throughout her entire school career. Her classmates have deemed her the “Grim Reaper” due to her large eyes and stark, black hair. Despite having no friends, Nishimura-san is a sweet girl with much to offer. Enter Takada-kun. Her mysterious nature draws him in. In fact, he gladly invites all of the doom and gloom that his classmates have created. Nishimura-san and Takeda-kun forge a strong friendship due to the charisma and positivity of Takeda-kun.
My Thoughts
This show is 100% wholesome. I loved every minute of it. There are very few things precious in this world, and this anime seems to capture many of those sweet, innocent, and precious moments. This anime addresses bullying in a very subdued way. The children have deemed Nishimura-san as “cursed” and that anyone interacting with her will also be cursed. The bullying is due to her appearance which is on par with children of that age being cruel. However, there is a message of hope. All it takes is one person to turn the tide. Enter Takeda-kun. He is a complete optimist. His upbeat and clueless nature begins to make it difficult for the other students to bully Nishimura-san. Eventually, with Takeda-kun’s help, Nishimura-san builds a circle of friends. The progress is heartwarming. Takeda-kun’s blunt and clueless nature makes him endearing and brings a wholesome vibe to the show. It’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed an anime of this genre. I highly recommend this one if you’re looking for something sweet and wholesome.
