Brief Summary

A popular idol, Ai, gets pregnant and has to hide her pregnancy. She meets a caring doctor who happens to be her fan. After the birth of her children, Aquamarine and Ruby, Ai has to lead a double life to protect her image and her children. Aquamarine and Ruby’s father go unknown. As Aqua grows older, he becomes intent on finding out the identity of his father. Aqua enters the entertainment industry with the gut feeling his father was someone involved in Ai’s career. On the other hand, Ruby wants to live her life as an idol.

My Thoughts

Admittedly, I left A LOT out of the summary because I felt that it would give away the mystery and shocking twist of the anime. The shocking twist leads Aqua and Ruby down a path they might not have experienced without the twist. This happens fairly early in the anime, so you don’t have to wait long to see what I mean. As the children grow, you get to experience their trials and tribulations of growing up in the entertainment industry. This anime explores the dark and gritty side of the entertainment industry. I loved the animation. The animators use stars in the eyes effectively. The eyes always drew me in and signaled that something special was happening. Overall, I liked this anime. I didn’t LOVE it. Near the end, it slows down, and it is apparent that the show is stalling for a second season which has been announced. This would be a good pick if you’re in the mood for something with mystery with a little supernatural dashed in.
