I turned 43 today. I have to admit that 43 hit a bit differently. Maybe because I am slowly inching up toward 50.

My husband bought me a Ninja Creami Breeze a few weeks early since I couldn’t wait. I’ve been making ice cream like a mad woman. So far, I really love it. The only pitfall is the noise. The thing is loud. Luckily, each cycle doesn’t last too long. The process is simple. You prepare a recipe in the pint container, freeze for 24 hours, and then blend! That’s it. The recipes are pretty simple. Almost everything begins with a tablespoon of cream cheese, 1/3 cup of sugar, 3/4 cup of heavy cream, and 1 cup of whole milk. There are many substitutes to make ice cream for dietary restrictions. The possibilities are endless. I even made a cherry sorbet out of cherry pie filling. It was delicious. My husband was able to get a good deal from Sam’s Club (not sponsored or compensated). They had the lowest price and it came with four pint containers. Unfortunately, they’re currently sold out. They literally sold out a few minutes after my husband purchased mine. If you want one, keep an eye out for the Sam’s version. You’re going to want more than one pint container. My first batch of ice cream was pina colada, cherry sorbet, apple pie, and vanilla with Nerds.

Since I had to work on my birthday, we went out on Sunday. The only request I have for my birthday every year is pizza at Home Slice. It’s simply the best pizza in Austin. I’m a simple woman. I don’t need a fancy meal to feel appreciated. After lunch, we went to my favorite bookstore, Kinokuniya. I got the new BTS book, Beyond the Story. I was honestly surprised they carried it. I also picked up a few Gelly Roll pens, some Hello Kitty stickers, and some stationery.

After we went to Kinokuniya, we walked over to Tanuki Games. I love board game stores. I ended up leaving with a copy of Flamecraft. It’s an absolutely amazing game. I’ll have a post about it at a later date.

The day was amazing. It was nice to spend an afternoon with the boys and also pick up some goodies along the way. Then, I had some ice cream from my Ninja to top it all off!
