Episode 2: A Peculiar One
Rei-chan plays a high-level character in a well-known achievement-based guild. She arrives in the first town, Firstia, looking for Sunraku. Unfortunately, she doesn’t find him.
Rather, Sunraku is beginning his battle with the first area boss, The Ravenous Python. The python is guarding the second city, Secondale. Typically, this boss takes a suggested group of three, but Sunraku decides he will beat the boss alone.

As the battle begins, Sunraku watches the movement of the python. He notes that the boss is made for beginners as its attack patterns are easy to read and that no attack will be an instant kill. When Sunraku finally attacks, his blade breaks due to low durability. Switching weapons, he goes in for an all-out attack only to be covered in poison before he makes contact.

Sunraku devises that he only has four minutes before he dies of the poison. He realizes the snake’s scales make it too hard to land critical hits. Therefore, he pierces the scales and makes his own critical hitbox. He continually attacks the weak spot he made. However, this is not enough. As the snake seems to have the upper hand, Sunraku manages to reverse the tables and defeat the area boss.

Now, it’s the race against the clock. He is still losing hit points due to the poison. He starts to run to town with the purpose of registering at the inn to save his spawn point. He realizes he doesn’t know where the inn is. As he runs into town, he passes a veteran who yells out the location of the inn. Sunraku is able to register his spawn point but immediately dies.
In his next session, Sunraku explores Secondale. He buys the cheapest armor so people will stop staring at his half-naked avatar. He also goes to sell items and pick up a new weapon. However, he finds his Vorpal weapons are much better than the vendor’s wares. The vendor then tells him he could make better weapons if he brings the supplies. Sunraku realizes that an influx of new players could mean a resource shortage, so he does his best to mine as much as he can. Finding rare materials, the craftsman offers a special weapon that he could make. Sunraku orders two. While waiting, he goes and buys items for his adventures.

The craftsman warns Sunraku to not go out at night. However, Sunraku ignores his warning and goes to level up. The monsters are definitely stronger. As he fights red cap goblins, he really starts enjoying himself. Just when he goes into a frenzy, something takes out all the red cap goblins. Standing before Sunraku is a unique monster.

THOUGHTS
So far, I am really enjoying this anime. However, I do have a bone to pick. I seriously doubt any game would release a unique monster to a lowly newbie. Come on! I know Sunraku is supposed to be a bit overpowered from his “trash game” experience, but what could he have possibly done to trigger a unique monster? That either means he is so overpowered he triggered the conditions, or the conditions are so low, he triggered them. It makes no sense to me. I would assume this unique monster is sought by the highest-end players. I guess you could explain it is blind luck.
