EPISODE 3: BLACK WOLF NIGHTSLAYER

Rei-chan is still on her hunt to find Sunraku. She runs into the two characters that were outside the gates of Secondale that pointed out the inn to Sunraku.

The male adventurer is explaining to the female adventurer about the Seven Colossi. Seven unique monsters that have never been defeated.

Meanwhile, Sunraku begins his fight with the unique monster, Lycagon the Nightslayer.

Sunraku gives it a college try but ends up getting defeated. As he lay there with 1 hit point left, he vows to defeat Lycagon one day. When he awakens in Secondale Inn, he realizes that he now bears Lycagon’s Curse.

Once again, Sunraku is naked. He can’t equip anything on his torso or legs. As he walks around town, he once again receives stares. Then he remembers the trifecta of trash games. Patient mind. Unbreakable spirit. Cool-headed judgment.

Sunraku takes a look at his experiences. Just fighting Lycagon gave him a ton of experience. He decides to define his build. He ends up ignoring his vitality skill which makes him a glass cannon. In other words, powerful, yet frail.

As Sunraku is lamenting, a white vorpal bunny falls on his head. Sensing its importance, Sunraku chases the bunny. It leads him to a magical door. Sunraku realizes that he has triggered a unique scenario. He opens the door and decides to walk in. Sunraku is only level 28…

Sunraku is transported to Rabituza, a land of vorpal bunnies. The little white bunny greets Sunraku surprising him. After all, the vorpal bunnies that he slayed did not talk. The bunny expresses how Rabituza is abuzz about the warrior who continued striking perfect deadly blows on Lycagon without taking a single hit. The boss of Rabituza called the white bunny to find Sunraku. The white bunny tells Sunraku its name, Emul.

Emul takes Sunraku to the palace where he meets the boss, Vysache.

THOUGHTS

If you haven’t already, you have to listen to the intro. It’s a banger. This episode reminded me how far-fetched anime can be. I mean that in a good way. Anime is fantasy. There is nothing more fantastical than a god-tier player at the beginning of a game. It’s been fun watching the “trash game hunter” navigate a good game. All of those skills he learned from playing glitchy games have given him a leg up in a good game. I was surprised that a unique monster showed up this early in the series, but it makes sense. They have to foreshadow the end content. So far, I am enjoying this show. It’s fun. I liked this Alice in Wonderland throwback with Emul, the rabbit. I wonder if Emul will become his pet or something of that nature. As we saw, the area he entered was for level 80, so I am curious how he is going to navigate that content.
