EPISODE 5: LO, THOU ART ASSAILED ON ALL SIDES

Last episode, Sunraku verified that his Lycagon curse causes lower-level creatures to flee. He tests out this part of the curse and even comes up with a plan to corner lower-level creatures to kill them. However, upon confirmation, Sunraku decides to, “Ignore the scrubs. Straight to the area boss!”

In the last episode, we caught a glimpse of the area boss, The Mud Digger. Immediately, Sunraku is at a complete disadvantage. The movement penalty refrains Sunraku from his normal attack patterns. As the Mud Digger heads straight for them, Sunraku uses a sliding move to get out of the way. Fighting Lycagon allowed many of Sunraku’s skills to improve.

Unfortunately, both skills he just used are on a ten-second timer leaving him with no other damage mitigation. As the Mud Digger leaps in the air and descends upon Sunraku and Emul, Emul casts a damage spell. While Mud Digger is temporarily knocked out, Sunraku “runs” toward it. He is able to use the evolved version of another skill.

Using his blades and another skill called edge climb, Sunraku rushes up the dazed Mud Digger. While Emul is doing their best to cast another spell, Sunraku uses his repel counter one more time. All of a sudden, Sunraku starts sinking into the ground. Sunraku tosses Emul out of the way. The Mud Digger triggers a special attack throwing Sunraku into the air. The Mud Digger’s plan is to kill Sunraku through fall damage. Emul hurries toward Sunraku with a scroll of teleportation placing Sunraku and Emul falling above the Mud Digger. The power of his descent kills the Mud Digger.

Emul and Sunraku make their way to Thirdrema. However, Sunraku is at a loss on how to hide Emul. Emul pulls out a bracelet and transforms herself into a human. It only lasts for a short while, but is a good solution to the problem.

They arrive at Thirdrema when someone grabs him by the arm. Her name is Animalia. She knows him from the screenshot taken back in Secondale. Rumors about Sunraku begin. Player killer clans are now targeting him. Things for Sunraku are growing dim due to the screenshot. Animalia wants to know only one thing. Where he got Emul. Suddenly, they are attacked. It’s someone who knows him from another game.

Arthur Pencilgon is the character’s name and is level 99.

THOUGHTS

I really do enjoy this show! Once again, a nice battle scene with the area boss. Nothing too drastic that would make Sunraku overpowered. Sunraku is only “overpowered” due to his experience playing trash games. He maximizes damage due to his timing for critical hits. The Mud Digger was an especially funny area boss. It looked like a shark and catfish had a baby. It looks like Sunraku is about to have a lot of challenges heading his way since his information was leaked on the forums. He has player killers and end-game guilds hunting him. He also has Rei-chan on the lookout. Who is this Arthur Pencilgon and what is their beef with Sunraku?
