EPISODE 1: THE FIANCEE WHO KILLED ME
It’s a bloody war scene. A single man dressed in black advances through the castle. He proceeds up the stairs to meet the last of the guards protecting the royal family. One by one, he slaughters them. The last thing our pink-haired protagonist sees is the steely blue eyes as he runs his sword through their chest.

Rishe Irmgard Weitzner stands before a prince as he denounces their engagement. However, the prince does not receive the shocked reaction he was looking for. Simply stating she understood, she cuts him off and begins to leave the room. As she walks off, Rishe is aware that she has lived this moment before. In fact, she has rewound to this moment in six prior lives.
Rishe’s First Life. After her engagement is annulled by the prince, Rishe flees the castle only to be thrown out of her home. No one believes that the prince is making up false accusations. With nothing, she walks the streets with no money and nowhere to go. She meets a band of merchants who invite her to join them. Realizing that she has no other options, he sells her ring to the merchants as payment for transportation to the next country.

Rishe boards their wagon and the chief of the group explains what they do as merchants. Intrigued, she decides to embark on the path as a merchant. The chief takes her under his wing and teaches her how to be a merchant. She travels the world enjoying her new life. That is until she is caught up in war and killed.
Rishe’s Second Life. She once again begins her life at the moment the prince annuls their engagement. With memories from her first life, she realizes she has no time to lose. She needs to rush to get her things before she is kicked out of her home. Grabbing some of her personal effects took too long and she missed the opportunity to meet the merchants. Selling off the last of her possessions, she crossed the sea to learn medicine. She traveled north to save a prince however, five years into her second life, she was swept up in war and killed.

Rishe’s Third Life. Rewound to the same moment, she quickly cuts off the prince stating she understands the annulment, and walks away with the prince balking at her sudden acceptance. This time, she decides that she is going to be a researcher. However, she was once again swept up in war and died.
Rishe’s Fourth Life. Served as a handmaid in a duke’s household.
Rishe’s Sixth Life. She disguised herself as a man and fought as a knight.

She enjoyed each of her lives and lived them to the fullest, but she always dies in five years and is rewound to the moment the prince denounces her. She realizes that she always exits the cancel the same way. She decides to take a quicker route. There, she runs into the man that killed her in her sixth life.

She mistakenly called him emperor when he hasn’t advanced to that position yet. She backtracks and apologizes for misspeaking. She quickly tells Prince Hein that her engagement has just been annulled and that she has to leave. She takes off her shoes and jumps from the second-story balcony. Intrigued by her, he tells his servant to ready his horse.
When Rishe arrives at her house, Prince Deitrich is waiting for her. He is determined to make her suffer, however, her wit makes him look like an idiot. It becomes clear that the prince has his heart set on someone else and that she told lies to win the prince over.

Wishing them well, Rishe begins to leave, but not before a sword is swung at her. Using her knowledge of swordplay from her previous life, she quickly grabs a soldier’s sword to block the assault. Impressed, Prince Hein admits he had a feeling she was good with a sword. The crowd knows of Prince Hein from his reputation for being a brutal swordsman. Rishe asks what business he has with her. He gets down on one knee and asks her to be his wife.

THOUGHTS
This show reminds me of last season’s I’m Giving the Disgraced Noble Lady I Rescued a Crash Course in Naughtiness. The shows are vastly different, but the whole “prince suddenly denounces an engagement and exiles the princess” happens in that show as well. This show also reminds me of I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss. Again, they are dissimilar enough, but it does have the same “I am going to marry the bad guy and steer him toward the light.”
That being said, I live for this type of anime. I’ve said it once, but I’ll say it again. I have no issues with reusing tropes. It makes it easy for the show to move on to the actual story because they don’t have to invest too much time in that part of the story. I like this show because it has an isekai feel to it. While she isn’t swept to a different world altogether, she is being swept to a specific moment in time and forced to relive her life.
I look forward to following this show this season! Will continue to monitor.
