I suffer with depression, anxiety, and bipolar II disorder.
What that means is every day is a struggle. Medications can only do so much, so there is a lot of therapy and daily mental work on my part to stay functioning. Lately, it has been a struggle and I realized that after I finished school, I did not find something to occupy my time. That’s a big trigger for me. Too much time on my hands.
I used to draw. Not well, but well enough.

I have completely forgotten how to draw. I drew Thursday night and they were busted. Like, real busted. I was too embarrassed to share it with you all. Like all things, I am going to need to practice, practice, practice. I started with some eyes. They were okay. Not great, but you have to restart from somewhere.

After the disappointment of Thursday night’s drawings, I managed to get this one of Jin-woo on Friday. You can’t really tell it’s him, but I’ll pretend y’all know.

I also like to color my pictures. I bought 120 alcohol-based markers. I did a lot of research into cheaper alternatives to Copic markers. I know that they are the best for a reason, but you also pay a pretty penny for that quality. I found the brand Ohuhu. They seem to get reasonable reviews. I’m not a professional, so I don’t necessarily need the quality of Copic. I do want them to blend reasonably well. At just under $1 a marker (versus $5 for a Copic), I had to try them out. I’ll line and color Jin-woo once my markers come in fresh from China.
The other hobby I am going to try is paper quilling. Google it. It looks really cool. I bought this specific hummingbird kit.

I am hoping that these new/revisited hobbies will bring me some peace of mind. Lord knows, I need it.
