It’s that time, y’all! A new season of anime is upon us. I’m excited! There are a few shows that I am particularly interested in.

Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc

Back in February, I went to the theater to see the beginning of the Hashira Training Arc. Needless to say, I am hyped for the rest of the show. The new arc is slated to return on May 12, 2024. Not soon enough!

Mushoku Tensei II: Part 2

I am looking forward to the continuation of Jobless Reincarnation. We left off with Rudeus declaring he intends to “do right” by Sylphie. What does that mean? What is that going to look like? Is their romance going to be smooth sailing or are there going to be complicated obstacles in the way? We will find out as the arc continues on April 8, 2024.

Hibike! Euphonium 3

After the Kitauji High School Wind Ensemble pulls a stunning performance in Oumae Kumiko’s first year, their results in her second year feel underwhelming to the entire club. They intended to achieve a gold medal at the national competition, but their participation ends with what is known as a “dud gold” at the Kansai competition: a gold medal that does not include being chosen to advance to the national competition. With the end of the cycle, the ensemble’s seniors retire, and a new leadership takes charge; Kumiko, soon to be a senior herself, is appointed the new club president. Now it is up to her to, under the guidance of their teacher Taki Noboru, shoulder Kitauji to the Nationals once again and help the band achieve the gold medal they have been aiming for.

This show is very relatable to me. I was a band nerd, so all of the emotions that go into wanting to achieve the highest results resonate with me. The show begins April 7, 2024.

Tadaima, Okaeri

Masaki Fujiyoshi is a stay-at-home spouse and parent. He has fought long and hard with feelings of being a burden to his loving husband, Hiromu, due to his status as an omega—a secondary gender, allowing one to give birth regardless of if they are male or female— and the difficulty they faced to achieve this domesticity. When their son, Hikari, was born, the family moved to an area better suited for raising children.

Hikari is now nearing his second birthday, and he and his parents are forging meaningful bonds with those around them. These include the beta college student living next door, Yuuki, to whom Hikari has become rather attached; Hiromu’s friend from work Matsuo; and the mysterious single dad seen wandering around the park.

Despite their newfound domestic bliss, the family’s ties to their past are in tatters. There are people they left behind to pursue the creation of their happy family, and when they begin to return, Masaki and Hiromu aren’t quite sure they have good intentions.

I am a sucker for a good BL manga/show. Adding the alpha/omega universe? Even better! It isn’t every one’s cup of tea, but I am looking forward to this show. Hopefully, it will be on Crunchyroll. The show will begin airing on April 9, 2024.

Vampire Dormitory

Mito Yamamoto is a beautiful man, so much so that women swarm the restaurant he works at daily. When the restaurant owner decides that he has had enough, he fires Mito, leaving him unemployed and with no place to call home.

Soon after, Mito happens upon a cafe and receives a cut on the hand from broken glass. A strange man named Ruka Saotome takes Mito aside to presumably tend to the injury, but instead, he licks away Mito’s blood, remarking that it tastes disgusting before asking Mito to leave. Later that night, Mito accidentally slips off the roof of a building and is caught by Ruka, who reveals himself to be a vampire.

Ruka explains that a man’s blood tastes disgusting, and the blood of someone unloved has an even worse flavor. However, Ruka cannot drink from girls, so he has been looking for a beautiful boy to become his thrall. He proposes that Mito fill this role and that he allow Ruka’s affections to “ripen” his blood. Mito accepts and begins living with Ruka in the Hijirigaoka Boys’ Academy dormitory. However, there is just one problem in all this: Mito is actually a girl!

This anime sounds absolutely terrible, and I AM HERE FOR IT. Vampires? A boy that is actually a girl? I volunteer as tribute.

There about six more shows I want to watch, but these are the top of my list. Do you have a show that you’re chomping on the bit to watch this spring season?
