EPISODE 1: LOVE 1. THE PRETTY BOY GETS PICKED UP

It’s dark and raining. A young boy climbs over the edge of the bridge railing looking downtrodden. A truck passes and the boy is no longer on the bridge. While falling, the boy thinks he doesn’t want to die. As he falls, a man dressed in a cape appears out of nowhere and catches the boy. The man tells the boy to stop crying or his blood will taste even worse. The man then bites the boy’s neck.

In a dark castle, a conversation is happening regarding who will become the next Lord. It must be someone who has found their destined partner. They must also possess extraordinary powers.

Rewind to the beginning of the day. Yamamoto Mito is being fired from his job. Partly because he has been sleeping overnight at work. Partly because his looks have caused customer complaints because so many girls come to see Mito. Mito is let go without pay and only has 12 yen to his name. Praying to his parents, he realizes that he’s always been in a pinch. He flashes back to the fire that took his parents’ lives. He was passed from relative to relative and treated like a nuisance. Once he finished school, he was kicked out.

It starts to rain and Mito is running. He has no umbrella and runs to stop in front of a café. He begins to sway from hunger and falls into the café breaking a pot. He cuts himself on the pot. A handsome young man whisks Mito away to the back to treat his wound. The young man licks his bloody finger then complains how disgusting his blood tastes. Mito thinks that is something a vampire would do, but dismisses the idea. The young man kicks Mito out of the café.

While the young man is in a back room, his butler, Komori sneaks up on him and asks how the blood tasted.

When the young man explains how horrible it was, Komori explains that the more loved a person is, the better their blood tastes. A woman’s blood is best, but a man’s blood would do. We learn the young man’s name is Ruka. Komori tells Ruka he should try to raise Mito to ripen his blood to his liking. Ruka basically tells Komori to mind his own business, but as he does, Komori’s eyes turn red and reminds Ruka that he is supposed to become the next Lord. The only way he can become Lord is to find his destined one. Their conversation is stopped short when a co-worker comes in and announces he is needed back for the rush.

Meanwhile, Mito is running in the rain with no where to go. As he begins to cross a bridge, he loses faith. Mito realizes no one needs him. He climbs over the edge of the railing in a moment of weakness.

Coming to his senses, he tries to climb back over the railing, but slips. As he falls, he thinks he doesn’t want to die. Suddenly, a man in a cape saves him. It’s Ruka. Ruka asks Mito if he is okay. It has been so long since someone cared that Mito begins to apologize and cry. Ruka tells him to stop crying or his blood will taste worse. He then begins to feed on Mito.

Ruka asks Mito if he was trying to die. Mito explains he wasn’t but that he was thinking no one needed him. Ruka then asks Mito to be his thrall. Before Mito can give him an answer, he passes out. Ruka takes him to his dormitory at school. Ruka draws him a bath and tells him he can leave afterwards. Mito, having no where to go, agrees to be Ruka’s thrall. As Mito prepares to take his bath, Ruka lets Mito know that he’s been looking for a pretty boy to be his thrall or a while. He tells Mito he can’t drink the blood of a woman.

THOUGHTS

OMG what trash LOL. I honestly don’t know what I was expecting. But wait. There’s more. I actually like it. It’s so bad, I like it. It’s like Ouran meets Twilight meets Vampire Knight. I am here for it. I love the cheesy sighs when he bites into her. And, what a twist! The he is actually a she. I wonder what drove her to live her life as a man. Also, how does the wig stay on?! Is it super glued to her head? What will he do when he realizes he’s a woman? And why can’t he drink the blood of a woman? What event led to this? I have so many questions. Will continue to monitor.
