EPISODE 1: TOWA AND SHINTARO

An angel descends into what appears to be Tokyo. Her monologue states that someone told her that she should learn to understand and get to know humans more.

A boy’s shift ends at a café. He walks home. He just entered high school and has been living alone for a month. He left the balcony door open as he fell asleep. The next day, he is awakened by his alarm. While drinking some milk, he notices the open balcony door. As he goes to shut it, he is greeted by a surprise. A young girl is sleeping on his balcony.

He falls over and spills his milk all over her. She wakes up and tells him good morning. He lets the girl use the bathroom while he freaks out. The boy gives her a t-shirt as it was the only clean thing he had. She introduces herself as Towa. He introduces himself as Shintaro. Shintaro asks Towa why she slept on his balcony. She thanks him for letting her sleep there and then bullies her way nearly on top of him to offer to do anything to repay him.

Poor Shintaro was flustered and tells her he doesn’t want anything from her. Disappointed, Towa announces she is going to cook him breakfast except there isn’t any food in his fridge. She decides she is going to clean however cats broke out into a fight on his balcony. She instead tries to reason with the cats to stop fighting.

Shintaro tells Towa she must have her reasons for running away from home, but it isn’t safe for her. When he asks her where she lives, she tells him she’s from Heaven. She officially announces she is a angel. She begins to tell her story, but Shintaro is more occupied with his inner monologue.

Shintaro’s alarm for work goes off. Convinced that she is crazy, he hurriedly has her get dressed and offers to walk her part way. However, his conscience is making him wonder if he is doing the right thing. Shintaro leaves work early because he is sick. On his way home, he thinks about Towa. As he thinks about her, he sees her walk pass with an older man. When he asks if it is her father, she tells Shintaro that he was a kind man that offered to take her to a hotel.

He grabs her hand and starts to lecture her. He ends up fainting mid-lecture. He wakes up in his room. Towa begins to cry when she realizes that he’s okay. She then feeds him a porridge made with ingredients he had on hand. She tries to feed him, but he reels back and says he could feed himself. Towa doesn’t back down and continues to feed him. After he eats, he begins to lecture her again and how bad people can be. Sensing that she really has no where to go, he invites her to live with him. He tells her it must have been hard carrying him back to the apartment, but she tells him she flew because she’s an angel. Before he could think she was crazy, her wings came out.

The next day, he wakes up thinking everything was a dream. That is, until he wakes up and realizes Towa is sleeping next to him. They go down to the konbini for breakfast. She gets excited and accidentally shows her wings. Luckily, no one saw. As they talk over breakfast, Shintaro realizes that he can’t afford to keep eating out, especially with two. So, they go shopping. He picks up regular sundries, but realizes her clothes attract stares. They go clothes shopping and while she is trying on clothes, she realizes that he is doing a lot for her and she wants to pay him back. Coming out of the dressing room, she practically proposes to him!

After shopping, they return home where he realizes he still hasn’t rectified the one-bed situation.

THOUGHTS

Towa-chan is absolutely precious! I mean, she’s an angel after all! Shintaro is also such a sweetheart. Who in their right mind would invite a total stranger to live with them? Especially one throwing up one red flag after another? However, he sensed that she was a good girl and gave her a chance. I am looking forward to witnessing their relationship. Will they fall in love? Will she have to leave him broken hearted? Or will God allow her to become mortal to stay with him? I’m sure I am overthinking it, but it has so many possibilities! Will continue to monitor.
