Episode 2: Love 2. THE PRETTY BOY IS TARGETED

Mito wakes up in Ruka’s bed. Shocked, she asks Ruka why they’re sleeping in the same bed. He tells her to make her blood taste better. She then reflects on why she was there. She remembers that he picked her up as a boy and that she hopes he doesn’t find out she’s really a girl. Immediately, Ruka wants to have his breakfast and pulls Mito in.

Mito tells Ruka that if he keeps drinking, her neck will be full of holes. Ruka waves his hand over her wounds and they disappear. Mito’s only thought is to get Ruka to love her more so her blood tastes better. As she is thinking, a bat enters the room. It turns into Komori, the butler, who hands her a school uniform. She’s now a student at the all-boys school.

Mito is nervous, but not for the reasons Ruka deduces. She is afraid she will be found out. Ruka tells her to not worry, the boys in class are nice. She introduces herself and her classmates all energetically greet her. Another classmate walks into the room and glares at her. She doesn’t know what she did to offend him. At the end of the day, Mito is beat. She hasn’t taken classes in a long time. As she sits in the classroom, Ruka walks in and offers her a part-time job at the café since she’s broke. Komori is the owner and agrees to it. Komori tells Mito to change, so both Mito and Ruka head to the employee area. There, Ruka begins to change.

Mito, afraid Ruka will found out she’s a female, shoves him out of the room to get dressed. During work, it is apparent that Ruka is the ladies’ favorite. All Mito can think about is how pretty the other girls are and how much better they must taste. Ruka asks Mito to get some dried fruit from the pantry. While Mito is in the pantry, Juri, one of their classmates, confronts Mito.

Yuri accuses her of using Ruka and deceiving everyone. As he approaches, she backs into the rack and cookware begins to fall. Ruka rushes in and takes the hit. As he bleeds from the head, Mito helps him back to the dorm. Back in the dorm, she wipes away the blood and she offers her blood up to him. As he drinks, he begins to cough. Mito begins to cry because she wishes her blood was better. He licks her tears and assures her that he just drank too fast. He then gifts her a magical item that measures how good her blood tastes.

He reassures her that he will do what it takes to make sure the necklace turns red. Mito asks why he can’t drink women’s blood. Komori arrives and presses a hidden switch to reveal that Ruka is an otaku that only loves 2D women.

Mito is relieved that is the reason why he doesn’t drink women’s blood. As Ruka wrestles with Mito, Mito can only think about how she wishes she can stay with Ruka forever. She is determined to make her blood taste better.

The next morning, she attacks the food at the cafeteria. Juri and Takara, her classmates and co-workers, ask how Ruka was doing. She recalls Ruka watching anime and realizes she can’t quite tell them that. Juri apologizes to Mito. Mito reassures Juri that she has a secret, but nothing that would hurt anyone. Juri, realizing everyone has secrets, tells Mito he won’t investigate her anymore.

The boy that glared at her drives up in a motorcycle. Takara tells her she should avoid him. However, when she goes back to her dorm room, he is waiting. She follows him to the back yard where he smashes his fist into the brick wall and asks Mito if she knows Ruka is a vampire. Ruka walks up and we find out the boy’s name is Ren. Apparently, they have beef with each other. Ren walks away. Ruka is worried the interaction ruined their progress.

Ruka starts to feed when she tells him to stop because someone might see. He’s flippant about it and she yells at him that she worries about him. He ends up ruining the mood by referencing the anime he watches. Annoyed, Mito runs away and calls him an idiot. Ruka realizes that Mito is slowly teaching him about love.

In martial arts class, Mito is paired with Ren. When Ren sees Ruka’s bite marks, he drags Mito out of class. They argue and Ren tells Mito that she will eventually turn into a vampire if she continues to allow him to feed. He calls Ruka a monster and that stirs Mito’s emotions. She exclaims that living humans are worse.

THOUGHTS

This show is so ridiculous and I am here for it! You’re telling me a vampire refuses to drink blood for 10 years because he’s an otaku?! That’s hilarious! I got a huge kick out of that. I do feel bad for Mito. She really has nothing left in the world except a vampire that only wants her for her blood. And, she’s okay with that. She’s built devotion to him for being the only one to reach out to her. What’s the deal with Ren? He must have some background with vampires to know that Ruka is one. I wonder if they’re related somehow. Wouldn’t that be a twist?

One response to “Anime: Vampire Dormitory, Ep. 2”

  1. Yeah, this series kind of grabs all the classic shojo tropes, it’s fun and kind of silly! I do feel a bit bad for Mito though, she really needs to see more value in herself.
