EPISODE 3: LOVE 3. THE PRETTY BOY STAYS OVER

At the cafe, Mito’s co-workers want to throw Mito a welcome party. They decide they want to take a camping trip and have a BBQ. Mito has never been before and is super excited. Mito asks Ruka for permission.

Ruka tells Mito that he’ll go. While the others talk about details, Ruka’s heart is beating fast. Scaring him, Komori pops up and asks him what’s wrong. Ruka admits something is wrong with his heart. Komori teases him saying vampires don’t become sick. Ruka wonders what that feeling could be.

Back at the dorm, the group is talking about the details of the weekend. At another table sits Ren. He has a flashback about his mother. She abandons him to become a vampire. It is unclear if the vampire is his father, or if she abandons him with his mortal father. It becomes clear why he wants to protect Mito.

Fast forward to the weekend, the group is setting up the BBQ. As they set up, Ren shows up with a tent next to their campsite. Mito remembers Ren telling her that he is going to protect her. Out of jealousy, Ruka picks up Mito and dumps here into the cold stream for thinking of another when Mito is his thrall. She grabs his hand and drags him in too.

After playing for a bit, the others call them over to help with the BBQ. Mito raises her shirt to wipe her eyes and Ruka begins to blush. As he stares at Mito, she gets a bit flustered and rushes off to change. While in the tent, Ren approaches from the outside and asks Mito if she has convinced Ruka not to turn her into a vampire. Ren tells Mito that he will do everything in his power to make sure that doesn’t happen.

After the BBQ, Ruka takes Mito to a quiet place to feed. She gathers her courage and asks Ruka if she is going to turn into a vampire. In turn, Ruka laughs. Ruka tells Mito that vampires are not allowed to create other vampires that way. He explains that is why they have a destined partner. He mentions Mito is just a placeholder until he finds his. You could hear her heart shatter a bit. She gets up and leaves.

As she runs away, a huge moth lands on her head and makes her scream. Ruka comes to her aid. She flees into him arms noticing that his heart is beating as fast as hers.

The other two friends walk up from the hot springs interrupting their moment. Mito runs off to the baths. Mito enters the bath as a female with her hair down. She’s not in the greatest of moods because she wants to stay with Ruka. She wills herself out of the negative mood and looks at the stars. Ren goes to the bath looking for Mito and sees her through the door as a woman. He goes into the bath area only to find Mito back with her wig. He decides to get into the bath with Mito. The entire time, Mito is afraid he is going to find out. Mito finds her exit, however, after she dresses, she collapses because she is overheated. Ren begins to carry Mito back to the campsite.

Ruka and the other two friends rush toward Ren. Ruka is angry and grabs Ren accusing him of doing something to Mito. Ren explains the situation and lets Mito climb down. Ruka grabs Mito aggressively and possessively. Ren walks away.

Back in the tent, Ruka is taking care of Mito. The other boys ask Ruka to bring out the rest of the fireworks, but before he can leave, Mito grabs him from behind. Mito pleads with Ruka to love her more so her blood will taste better. She then passes out leaving Ruka confused.

THOUGHTS

Does no one else find Ruka and Mito’s relationship weird? Their two co-worker friends seem to think their behavior is normal. I would most definitely think something is off about the two. What about Ren? Is he pretending to not know that Mito is a woman? It was obvious that Mito was the only one in the bath, and yet, he waltzes in and accepts that the long hair he saw magically disappeared? I’m a bit disappointed in that. With as much of a hothead as Ren is, I don’t think he’d just let it go. I also have a hard time believing that no one suspects that Mito is a woman.

That being said, top-tier trash. Will continue to monitor.
