EPISODE 5: LOVE 5. THE PRETTY BOY RUNS AWAY FROM HOME

Speaking with Maina, Mito realizes that she’s only Ruka’s friend. She encourages Maina to tell Ruka how she feels. Mito begins to cry as Ren shows up. She asks to borrow his shoulder for a bit. That’s when Ren begins to push Mito away and tells her to get away from him. He starts growing fangs and then lunges at Mito.

Mito fends him off but not before his fang touches her. She screams and wakes Ren out of his blood thirst. Disgusted by himself, he leaves.

Mito makes her way back to her room. She finds Ruka playing his Love Magi game. When he sees Mito he tries to play everything off by teasing him about Maina. Mito gets angry when Ruka is practically seducing him. Mito loses her cool and runs out of the room. She begins to realize that she might love Ruka.

Mito is wandering the streets and runs into some ruffians. As they begin to assault her, Ren shows up and saves her. She tells Ren she doesn’t want to go back to Ruka yet. Meanwhile, Ruka is on a rooftop looking for Mito.

Ren drafts Mito back to the dorms, but instead of taking her to Ruka, he brings her to his room. She protests him leaving the room and he reminds her that he might bite her again. She asks him if he is a vampire and he discloses he is a cross between a human and a vampire.

He begins to tell Mito about his past. How he isn’t really accepted in either world. He explains that his mother was his only ally but she decided to leave Ren to become a vampire. Mito shares that she has a similar upbringing. Mito suggests that Ren sleep on the floor. Mito remembers she doesn’t have pajamas and tells Ren to turn around. She has stolen on of his shirts and uses it.

Ruka goes back to his room only to find Komori/Founder waiting. He reminds Ruka that he isn’t to fall in love with anyone.

Back in Ren’s room, he wakes up and sits on the bed where Mito sleeps. He traces her lips with a finger. Ren tries to hold back because Mito is a man, but he leans in for a kiss anyway.

Just as their lips are about to touch, she talks in her sleep. She apologizes to Ruka with tears flowing. He wipes away the tears and tells her that he is by her side. He lays beside her and falls asleep.

The next morning, Ruka is banging on every door looking for Mito. The last room he checks is Ren. Ruka breaks down the door and finds Ren and Mito in a compromising position.

Ren and Ruka verbally altercate and in the end, Ruka gets upset and tells Mito to stay with Ren from now on.

THOUGHTS

I called it! I knew Ren had to be some sort of non-human. That being said, there is some tasty drama. Who do I like better? I think I ship Ren and Mito more than I ship Mito and Ruka. But, of course, we know the friend never wins. I’m still leery about Komori. What’s his game? He has to know that Mito is most likely Ruka’s destined one. After all, it was Komori’s idea to sweeten Mito’s blood. Will continue to monitor.
