Chapter One: It all starts off with an eraser. Enter Aoki. One of the protagonist of the series. There is a quiz and Aoki quickly realizes that he forgot his eraser. A classmate, Hashimoto, lends him an eraser. Aoki has a crush on Hashimoto and compares her to an angel. Then he realizes that something is written on the eraser. Engraved on the eraser is “IDA” who is a handsome guy in their class that sits directly in front of Aoki. In his despair, Aoki drops the eraser and Ida picks up realizing his name is engraved on the eraser!

Aoki is in a quandary. Does he throw Hashimoto under the bus or does he keep her secret? In the end, he admits the eraser is his. Aoki invites Ida to the roof after school and is instantly regretting his decision. Meanwhile, Hashimoto approaches Aoki and asks about the eraser. He admits that he saw it, but that he will keep her secret. They pinky swear to keep the secret between the both of them. Ida is trying to figure out a way to gently let down Aoki. On the roof, Aoki asks Ida to forget about the eraser. Ida is actually pretty cool with the whole situation which makes Aoki’s heart ache even more because this is the guy he has to compete against for Hashimoto’s attention.
Chapter Two: Distraught with his situation, Aoki goes to eat lunch by himself on the roof. A bird dives in and steals it. Without hesitation, he tries to get the sandwich back, but to Ida, it looks like he is going to jump off the roof in despair.

Aoki has to quickly explain the bird and his sandwich. Ida admits to Aoki that he can’t just turn him down without giving it a chance, so he wants to start off as friends. Meanwhile, it seems that Aoki is starting to develop feelings for the slightly clueless Ida. In after-school clean up, Aoki does his best to avoid Ida. While he is throwing out the trash, Hashimoto comes to confide in Aoki that she got to talk to her crush. The next morning, Ida tracks down Aoki’s friend Akkun. He asks the friend about Aoki and Akkun says he will do his best to have them makeup.
Chapter Three: The school festival is coming up and the class decides to do Cinderella. Hashimoto volunteers to do props. In an effort to help Hashimoto out, he volunteers Ida. However, Ida thinks Aoki wants to be on props with him. While making props, Aoki does his best to pair up Hashimoto with Ida but it all seems to be going wrong. The more he tries to hook up Hashimoto with Ida, the more he gets hooked up with Ida instead. As if things couldn’t get worse, Aoki accidentally ruins the prop he was working on. Ida volunteers to help him out to get it fixed. Aoki can’t help but think what a dreamy guy Ida is. On their way to the station, Ida keeps saying sweet things to Aoki and he can’t help but tear up. Aoki is struggling with his feelings.

Chapter Four: It’s the next day and the leads for the play are sick! Who will take the spots? Ida is naturally picked for the prince. Aoki tries to volunteer Hashimoto for the part, but she gets stage fright. In order to save Hashimoto from her stage fright, he volunteers to be Cinderella.

During the play, Aoki trips. Ida catches him and it takes all of Aoki’s might to not swoon. When the play is over, Aoki catches himself staring at Ida. Hashimoto brings Aoki a bottle of water and thanks him for saving her. Hashimoto tells Aoki that he has encouraged her to change. That evening, Aoki is confused about his feelings and comes to the conclusion that the ideal match for Ida is Hashimoto.
Chapter Five. At the after party, everyone is picking on Aoki saying he fell in love with Ida. However, Ida doesn’t find it funny at all. After all, Aoki did it for the class.

Feeling the change in mood, Aoki starts making fun of himself and trying his best to change the mood. After the party, Aoki is walking home and almost walks right into a train. Luckily, Hashimoto was there and saves him. She senses something is wrong. Unable to handle it anymore, Aoki apologizes to Hashimoto and says he can’t support her anymore because he likes her crush, too. Hashimoto is pretty open to the idea and as they both mention the name, it becomes clear there is a love mix-up.

THOUGHTS
What a cute story! I don’t blame Aoki for falling for Ida. He is a bit swoon-worthy with his innocence. It’s so great that instead of shaming Aoki, Ida actually asked him to wait for a proper answer. I am looking forward to the following volumes. Luckily, my local library has them saving me a TON of money. WOO!
