A had many crushes in elementary and middle school, but I don’t recall their names or faces. So, I can’t really write about them in earnest. I can write about my first SERIOUS crush.
His name was Francisco Molina. I remember seeing him on my first day of summer marching band and I was enamored. He was on the drumline and played the tenors. I want to say he was a junior when I was a freshman. I would stare at him all the time during practice. I’m surprised he never just looked at me and told me to stop because it was super obvious! He was quiet and had a great smile.
Then, one day, my friend Adrian finally confronted me and told me that I needed to stop staring and just talk to him. Funny enough, the same day, we had a bomb threat and had to evacuate to the tennis courts. Low and behold, Francisco was in the same tennis court. I gathered my courage and went to talk to him. We exchanged phone numbers and he called me that night. We hit it off. Not too long after, we started dating.
Recently, a friend of mine posted a photograph of us. I had no clue that one existed. This was obviously before the days of cell phones, so pictures were more rare than they are now.
