EPISODE 11: LOVE 11. THE PRETTY BOY DROWNS

In the last episode, Miko, the imposter, causes the bridge to break forcing Ruka to choose between Miko and Mito. Ruka lets Mito fall from the bridge. Devastated, Mito resigns herself to death. She doesn’t fight to swim back up after she falls into the water. In a surprise move, the Founder dives in after her and tells her that she has to live.

The Founder leaves her on the banks, but not before taking the necklace from around her neck. As Ruka searches for Mito, the Founder shows up and tells Ruka that he left Mito with Ren.

Back at Ren’s house, Mito is so upset, she wishes that she could forget Ruka. Ren tells Mito that he can grant her wish. She agrees that she wants to forget Ruka and everything they’ve been through.

Ren bites her neck granting her wish.

Back at the dorm, Ruka is visibly upset. He admits to his cat that he made a terrible mistake. Miko shows up under the pretense that she was worried about him. Miko notices that Ruka is pale. She offers herself to him. However, he can’t bring himself to bite her. The Founder shows up and is happy Ruka has finally found his destined partner. The Founder immediately whisks them away for a wedding in the vampire lands.

In the carriage to the vampire lands, the Founder takes Mito’s necklace and places it on Miko’s neck. In a rage, Ruka exclaims that the necklace belongs to Mito. It is then that he flashbacks to all the special moments with Mito and realizes that he made a terrible mistake and that the only one he loves is Mito.

Ruka jumps out of the carriage to find Mito. As Miko is looking over the edge, the Founder tells Ren’s father’s puppet to stop the act. The Founder admits he knew all along and was testing Ruka.

Ruka shows up at Ren’s house quickly discovering that Mito doesn’t remember him at all. He begs Ren to stay by Mito’s side. Mito, sensing Ruka has no where to go, asks Ren to hire him. Ren agrees.

The next day, Ruka is doing yard work with Mito. Mito mentions that there will be a lot of guests coming. When Ruka asks for what, Mito mentions her wedding to Ren.

Ruka admits that he had someone that he cared about but he lost them because he didn’t realize it until it was too late. Sensing his sadness, Mito squirts him with the water hose. Playfully, Ruka grabs the water hose to spray Mito, but falls on top of Mito instead. Ruka realizes that Mito is so close, yet so far.

Back in the house, Ren’s father is proud of himself for the trouble he has caused. Ren realizes what his father has done and seems unsettled.

THOUGHTS

I wonder what Ren is going to do? Does he really want his relationship with Mito to be built on lies and deceit? He looked a bit uneasy after realizing what his father is responsible for. Is this really what’s best for Mito? As for Ruka, he’s getting a little slice of what he deserves, in my opinion. He led Mito on and couldn’t just commit to his feelings. It was obvious how special Ruka was to Mito and it took literally being on the altar’s doorstep to realize the feelings he has been pushing aside. While I think I will always be Team Ren, I hope Mito and Ruka find their happiness.
