Just when you think the month couldn’t get any worse…my mother-in-law had to put her dog, Oreo, down.
My mother-in-law returned home on Tuesday and told us she was going to take Oreo to the vet. In full disclosure, Oreo was a senior dog. It took a lot of effort for her to move around and she had a nagging cough. She also had a few tumors. On Friday, she took Oreo to the vet and was informed her heart was failing. My mother-in-law had to make the decision to put her to sleep. So, Oreo took her final ride over the Rainbow Bridge.
We were glad that Oreo made the trip down to Texas. She seemed happy to be part of our pack. She would follow Rikka around and when there was treats involved, she was right there with my dogs. I’d like to think he final days were happy being part of the pack. Rest in peace, Oreo.
This week, I also found out that my kidney disease is progressing. In addition, my carbon dioxide was super low. Again, an indicator that the kidney disease is progressing. I have to admit that I knew it was happening. You feel the signs. A random kidney spasm here. A random kidney spasm there. Dull aches in the back. Lethargy. The past few weekends, I’ve been sleeping almost the entire Saturday. Weakness. Exhaustion. I have two doctor’s appointments next week. I guess we’ll see what path we take next.
So — it’s been a ray of sunshine here in ChibiChonk’s world. I sure hope that your world is shining brighter than mine. Toodles.
