In January, while putting my Christmas tree in the garage, my husband broke it. I absolutely loved that tree. It was probably the nicest tree I have ever owned. Here is a picture of it in it’s glory.

Here is a picture of it dressed up as Darth Vader:

With such a terrible month, Casey suggested we go look at Christmas trees since we no longer had one. So, on Friday, after work, we went to Home Depot and Lowe’s to see what they had. Of course, I fell in love with the trees that were huge and wouldn’t fit in the new space it would live in. We purchased a new couch recently, and the corner it lived in is no longer available. I would have to settle for a slim profile tree, or a pencil tree. After visiting both Home Depot and Lowe’s, I settled on a tree that they had at Home Depot.

I came home and immediately went to work decorating. I needed that little bit of joy. I’ve had such a terrible month. I don’t really care that October isn’t even over. I’ve never really understood these rules about when to put your tree up and when to take it down. Now that it is set up, I am very happy with my purchase. The LEDs are brighter than I thought they would be and it’s the perfect size for the space.

Even the dog loves the tree. I caught her gazing at the lights. Excuse the mess:

Then, on Saturday, Casey took me to the Texas Stars v. Iowa Wild hockey game. It was Fallout night and it was pretty cool. They handed out Fallout Halloween masks and bottle cap pins.

Sometimes, you need to do anything to get the pendulum swinging the other way. The Christmas tree made me pretty happy. It isn’t as full and glorious as my last one, but it’s still nice. Here is to a better week.
