Episode 2 Recap: Noel sells his embezzling party members to slavers.
Episode 3: The Real Deal
Noel is in a tavern trying to recruit new members to Blue Beyond. Wolf of Lightning Bite invites Noel to become part of his party. Noel, of course, refuses unless they make him leader of Lightning Bite. A girl named Alma is able to sneak up behind them.

She was seeking Noel and wants to join his party. As Lightning Bite and Noel interview her, they find out she is a Scout, Rank C. Upon further investigation, we learn that Alma is the granddaughter of someone who once fought Overdeath and lost an arm. Alma isn’t interested in being a Seeker, but rather, interested in Noel. In order to prove her strength, she defeats a strong opponent in the Seeker Tavern.

We learn that Alma trained in the mountains and that she has reached the ability to get promoted to rank B. She was training to become an Assassin, but the Society of Assassins rejected her. She was trained by her grandfather who was a bloodthirsty leader willing to kill anyone for money. During her test, she defeated the opponent and was about to kill him. However, the new leader stopped her and informed her that killing indiscriminately wasn’t their way anymore. We learn that the Society of Assassins are turning to government-backed espionage work.
Noel takes Alma to the mountains to experiment with his talker abilities. His buffs could be dangerous if the subject can’t adapt to his buffs. Noel tasks Alma to wrangle up a killer rabbit. He wants her to catch one while he buffs her. Noel asks Alma if she has the Accel skill. Alma answers that she had to train to make sure it didn’t tear muscles or break bones when she learned to stack the skill. Noel further explains getting used to his buffs is the same. She senses 13 rabbits in the area. Noel tasks her with catching one rabbit in 10 seconds with his buff enabled. She ends up catching all 13 passing Noel’s test.
They go on their first job. Noel received a letter from a small town they once did a quest for. Alma learns that this type of job is common for a Seeker. A band of thieves has arrived and started attacking Mintz Village.

While traveling by stagecoach, Noel explains the different type of jobs a Seeker takes. When they arrive to Mintz Village, they try to find a room, but everywhere seems to be booked. They finally found a room, but it only has one bed. Noel tells Alma she can take the bed. Alma offers that they sleep together.

Noel returns from his bath and Alma admires his toned body. However, she explains that it is sad because it means he had to work hard. She explains that hard work will never amount to those who have natural talent. Noel is taken aback. As he lays in bed, he falls asleep. He awakes sleeping in between Alma’s breasts.
THOUGHTS
Kind of a slow episode with a lot of explanation to Alma. Not a bad episode, just slow. There wasn’t a lot of action, but it was needed to develop an understanding of Alma’s seclusion in the mountains.
I am curious as to why she chose to seek out Noel if Overdeath defeated her grandfather. Does she have ulterior motives, or is it as she says? She wants to stand by the side of the grandson of the strongest ultimate Seeker.
It is obvious that she can get a bit bloodthirsty demonstrated by her battle in the Tavern. She is going to be a handful for Noel. She’s super strong and talented. That bloodthirst is going to make it interesting. Will continue to monitor.
