Episode 1
The episode opens with our protagonist running through the halls of a castle. She rushes down the stairs to the front door that is closing. She doesn’t make it in time. As she starts to cry, a boy calls her by her name. Leticia.
In the next scene, we’re whisked away to an idyllic countryside home. It is obvious that the family that lives there is well off. Leticia is playing in the yard with her dog, John. It is apparent that Leticia is a girl filled with life. While she plays, the family receives a letter. Leticia’s mother calls Leticia and informs her that her future has been decided. Leticia is going to live in the castle with her brother Nadir. Leticia cries when she realizes this means she will be living away from her family. The next day, she is loaded into a wagon and taken to the castle.
When they arrive, Leticia is immediately taken to a room where a teacher awaits. Without even being able to take a breath, the teacher begins her lessons starting with how to properly greet another. It is apparent that Leticia is lacking grace.

Laila is harsh with high standards. When Laila tries to have Leticia repeat her greeting, Leticia begins to cry weeping for her mother and father. Later that evening, Nadil lectures Leticia. He tells her that she has to take her princess lessons and that her fate has already been decided. Leticia understands what he means and will try to do her best. Nadil summons Lily. Lily introduces herself as Leticia’s new attendant.
The following day, princess lessons begin with posture. Laila has Leticia practice over and over.

As time passes, it becomes apparent that Leticia is dying inside. However, she maintains her composure and gives her all to training. Seasons change and Leticia is now about to turn 17. The little girl that was hard to wake up is now awake and ready to go before Lily arrives. Leticia is excelling, but she is no longer the free-spirited girl she once was. As she sits with the prince she is engaged to, she shows no personality and instead focuses on the prim and proper way a future princess should act.

We fast forward to a party where the spectators look on and admire Leticia. When she comes down the stairs, Prince Clarke is awaiting her with another woman on his arm.

Leticia asks if this means their engagement is over. He looks to the side and agrees. Leticia looks down and looks like she is crying. However, she reaches to the sky and rejoices.

As she dances around, he walks up to her brother and reminds him of a promise he made her. If the Prince fell in love with someone else, she was allowed to break off the engagement. She walks up to the new woman and thanks her profusely. As Leticia runs off, the Prince follows her. He tries to talk to her, but she interrupts and thanks him for everything. She even says that he wishes that he broke off the engagement sooner.

Without giving him a chance to speak, she wishes him well and leaves to her estate. There, she summons Lily. Nadil shows up and they decide that they will go to their family’s countryside manor.
THOUGHTS
Hmmm. I’m not sure what to make of this one. The beginning of the episode was really, really slow. I understand that they had to build the monotony of her princess lessons, but it was painful to watch. That being said, they did do a good job of making Leticia seem lifeless. After all, that is what probably made the Prince leave her for another woman.
Then, we get whiplash as she turns into a completely different person when the engagement is broken.
I’ll probably give this one the three-episode test, but I am not sure this one is my cup of tea.
