I was in my early 20s when I was introduced to MMORPG EverQuest. It quickly engulfed my life. Day and night. My first character was a necromancer named Necronomica on the server Quellious. There, I played with my sister’s druid, Mythrial, and her warrior husband, Zerkernaut. They took turns alternating dual boxing a shaman named Mercerial. They had a cleric and enchanter as well. In those days, we rounded out a nice little group and nothing really stood in our way. I was able to get my epic weapon and a ton of tradeskill trophies without the help of a guild. Well, sort of. We paid guilds to let us tag along places for pieces that we needed. Just me and my sister’s druid doing all our farming and making cash on our vendors. We cornered the market on Misty Thicket Picnics and bone darts. Then, after years of playing, World of Warcraft came out and I left EQ behind for greener pastures.
Fast forward to present times.
My husband and our mutual best friend game together. Our game of choice has been 7 Days to Die, but we quickly advance and grow tired of the game. We love gaming together, but nothing was really grabbing out attention. Then, we decided one day out of nowhere to go back to EverQuest. Hello, EverQuest, my old friend…
It’s nostalgic. It quickly reminds me of how horrible I was playing a character in EQ.
I’m in a guild. Yeah, you read that right. I’m in a guild. That’s a huge step for me. I fear people. Even pixel ones.
And. I made a new friend. I forgot how joyful it is to meet a new friend. It is especially nice to click with someone new in the gaming world. He is very nice. Has helped me with a ton of things. Most of all, allowing me to be chatty and not being put-off. I do tend to ramble and get excited about things. I learned that he is an aspiring writer who has hit a few road bumps along the way. If you have any advice or just want to show some love to my new friend, leave a comment below!
