EPISODE 1: INFERNO

A team of elite mercenaries are infiltrating the Vatican in a heist. While the mercenaries are busy looting, a voice echoes. As they look up, they see a talking white rabbit.

The talking white rabbit verbally jabs at the American soldiers of fortune. The white rabbit makes fun of the fact that they’re focused on typical loot when the most prized possession is behind a glass case. The white rabbit breaks the case to reveal The Force Edge, sword of the Demon Knight Sparda. The white rabbit reveals that he comes from the world we know as Hell. The soldiers of fortune tell the white rabbit they don’t care what he takes as long as he pays their fee. The white rabbit calmly tells them they will get what is owed and proceeds to murder the whole team with the sword.

As the Vatican soldiers arrive, the white rabbit continues to talk about Hell and demons. The white rabbit then triggers explosives with a handheld device and watches as the Vatican burns.

A woman walks with her infant in a stroller down a busy city street. The baby is definitely not what it appears. As the woman bends over to pick up items from her spilled purse, the baby disappears and then re-appears in the stroller. The infant drops its rattle, and it disappears into a dark alleyway. The woman goes into the alleyway with infant daughter in tow. Just as she is about to pick up the rattle, demons appear and attack the woman. Just in the nick of time, a man saves her and, in small talk, reveals that he has been hired to kill demons. He looks at the baby in the stroller. Just as the mom bends over to pick up her things, the baby turns into a demon and attacks the demon hunter.

He pulls the gun on the baby and the woman hits him with her bag. He loses them as they merge with the other people in the street.

A radio host is talking about the bombings of the Vatican City. A “winged man” is suspected in the bombings. However, the radio host calls it as an attack from terrorist demons. The radio host is the laughing stock of the nation. However, in a cabinet meeting at the White House, a scientist presents that the attack on the Vatican was, indeed, terrorist demons. The scientist explains to the Cabinet that Hell is a universe separated from our universe by an interdimensional rift. Small enough portals open for lesser demons to come through, but leaves the larger demons in Hell.

The scientist works for Darkcom, a company backed by the vice president. A man bursts into the room with footage from the heist. The Cabinet members watch as the team of Americans are slaughtered. The white rabbit leaves a message. If you want to catch a rabbit, find the hunter. The vice president orders all demon hunters to be brought to him.

Our demon hunter is eating a parfait at a local diner. His instincts kick in and he senses danger. Time slows and we see a truck about to hit the diner. He quickly gets up, throws a man to safety, and gets to the waitress.

As the building burns, the demon hunter turns to the waitress and tells her to evacuate the rest of the customers. A voice calls out. We learn the demon hunter’s name is Dante. A vision of Dante’s brother appears. Dante is disturbed as we learn that his brother is deceased. However, it’s a trick and the brother is actually the demon baby.

Darkcom has wrangled all of the known demon hunters grilling them about the white rabbit. One demon hunter talks. Says he knows a broker that deals in that kind of work. His name is Enzo Ferino. They capture him and he voluntarily offers up information about the white rabbit. He said it was particular that the white rabbit picked a specific hunter he wanted to hire. Dante.

Back at the diner, Dante fights the demon who is after his necklace. The demon is able to pin Dante against the wall and steals the necklace with its tongue.

However, Dante exudes great, superhuman-like, force and is able to break free and steal the necklace back. The demon mentions that Dante isn’t exactly aware of who he is. The demon turns into a bat and flies away leaving Dante’s weapons in shambles.

Back at the interrogation room, we learn the story of Sparda. He was a demon champion that turned his back against the demons to side with the humans. Sparda cast a spell to put a wall between the two realms. We learn that the key to this spell are two halves of an amulet and the Sword. If someone were to join the two halves, but them in the Sword, they would bring down the barrier between the realms.

The vice president sent a team in to get the white rabbit, but it failed leaving only one member alive. The soldier finds the vice president and explains the white rabbit already knows where the second half of the amulet is, but the plan failed to retrieve it. All roads lead back to Dante.

THOUGHTS

What an interesting concept. I wasn’t too sure about this show to begin with, but I am really liking it. The music is awesome. The show features a lot of 90s rock and some 80s synth vibes. There are quite a few humorous points throughout the show, so it breaks up the seriousness of the end of the world. I love the white rabbit. Something so cute can also be very vicious. I am interested to learn Dante’s secret. He is obviously more than just a regular human. The demon alluded to it. Will continue to monitor.
