Are you the same person online as you are in real life?

Without a doubt, I can tell you that my online persona and my “real life” persona are exactly the same.

100% Nerd. If you get the nerd vibe, you are absolutely on-point. Academically speaking, I have always received high grades. I graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA (It was actually higher. We had a weighted system that took into account AP courses. I just don’t remember the actual GPA lol). Then, I was able to graduate university with a 4.0 GPA.

100% Gamer. My favorite pastime is playing PC games. That passion extends to this blog. I often write about my gaming exploits. I am currently a part of a guild in the game, EverQuest. The person they know as ChibiChonk is the same as the ChibiChonk here and the La Shell in real life.

100% Otaku. I am in love with all things Japanese. It’s who I am online and who I am in person. I share the same level of enthusiasm in real life as I do online.

100% Hot Mess. Yes. I am a hot mess. I’m sure you’ve picked up on that. Everything I share here is true to real life. I struggle with mental health issues. I struggle with general health issues. I share those with you here, and I am just as vocal about them in real life.

I’d like to think everyone that stops by here could meet me one day and feel like they’ve known me for years. I try my best to be the same person online and offline.

What about you? Do you have a different online persona?

One response to “Random Thoughts: Online v. Real Life Persona”

  1. Hmm, I feel like my online persona and my IRL persona are somewhat different. But then, I also feel like I have many, many personas all of them are similar, but not the same. I have my “business” or at work persona, where I’m very polite, helpful, and always cheerful. I never say anything negative. Then I have my online persona that can vary from account to account. Still cheerful, but I’m more free to be critical about a topic. Then I have my neighborhood persona where I’m known as “that walker girl” where I chat up my neighbors, pet dogs, and “Ooo” over their gardens. It’s all small talk, nothing personal. Then I have my family persona, where I’m more free to blow off steam about work and coworkers, grumble about annoying neighbors, and be more negative. I’m still fairly cheerful with my family members, I’m generally a cheerful person, but it’s much more balanced with my family.
