Mr. Romanov begins to show Ageha magic in earnest. We quickly learn that Mr. Romanov is more than meets the eye. Princess Hyakka is enamored with Ageha’s memories and gifts him a giant peach. He stores it in a bag that Mr. Romanov enchanted for him. Rottenmeier decides to tell Ageha the true story of his parents. His mother was a rich noble who fell in love with a poor noble. The poor noble was already in love with someone else, however, his mother pressured his father into breaking it off and marrying her. After the birth of Ageha, his father took on his former fiance as a mistress and moved out. Therefore, Ageha is not loved by his parents. Ageha learns that his half-brother’s mother recently died and his father is bring him, Regulus, to learn from Mr. Romanov. Upon meeting his parents, it is quickly made known he is not loved by either of them. Ageha flees to his room. After calming down, he leaves his room only to witness his mother’s butler pushing Regulus down the stairs. Ageha is quick thinking and is able to catch Regulus and save his life. Unfortunately, his good deed is showered with a bad omen. He has a vision of an older Regulus trying to kill him.

Mr. Romanov refuses to tutor Regulus. It is at this point that the new maid, Alice, yells at Mr. Romanov. It is then that we learn Mr. Romanov has only one superior, the Emperor. Mr. Romanov has been bestowed the title Designated Imperial Hero and can demand lodgings at the home of any noble. When he realized how special Ageha was, he volunteered to tutor Ageha, so technically, he was not employed by the family and therefore had no duty to tutor Regulus. However, Ageha decides he wants to tutor Regulus himself.

Ageha continues his daily visits to Princess Hyakka. Ageha also finds a way to introduce Japanese cuisine to the head chef. Ageha also devises a plan to educate his people. He tells Princess Hyakka about letterpress printing and asks if she can pass the idea to Igor, the God of Innovation. When she agrees, Ageha suffers from stress-fever and passes out. Upon waking up, Alice asks why Ageha is so determined to educate Regulus. He tells her that he doesn’t see himself living a long life and that he wants Regulus to be a good man worthy of being a lord.

Ageha continues his good deeds and thinking of the future of his people. He meets Maria Crowe, future Imperial Court Singer. Meanwhile, Princess Hyakka tells Ageha that he has soul separation disease and needs to strengthen his magic nerves. Regulus is upset knowing Ageha cannot be permanently cured, so the Princess gives him another peach. Ageha has it made into sorbet which comes in handy to Maria when she is poisoned on her debut night. It comes to light that Ageha doesn’t know he has been given a sage peach which is magical in nature.

Ageha makes a deal with Igor to start a company.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I had trouble slogging through this synopsis. There was so much going on, it was a bit chaotic. I always roll my eyes at myself when I say this, but this series was a bit over-the-top in the sense that this five-year-old boy gets blessed by two Gods, is the ultimate craftsman, and is managing to start a business for the benefit of his people. It’s a little too much to swallow.

That being said, I didn’t hate the show. In fact, it kept me pretty entertained albeit a bit confused from all the jumping around it does. You can’t help but love the chunky Ageha and how innocent he is. It ended on such a weird note. I’m not confident that it will get a season two.
