EPISODE 1: MAY I KINDLY BEAT THE TAR OUT OF THOSE EVIL NOBLES (PIGS)?

Surrounded by nobles that obviously look down on her, the prince denounces his engagement to Scarlet, our protagonist.

As he introduces his new fiancé, the second Prince’s supporters exclaim what a good couple the newly engaged couple makes. The Prince continues to berate Scarlet calling her dull and stupid. Scarlet points out that the engagement was made by their parents and he can’t end it on his sole discretion. However, the Prince counters back with the “terrible acts” she committed toward his new fiancé at magic school. However, Scarlet has never met his new fiancé. Giving up, Scarlet asks to be granted one last thing. At first the Prince refuses, but his new fiancé shows compassion and tells the Prince they should oblige. Scarlet calmly approaches with her hand curled into a fist and asks:

We rewind to Scarlet’s past to get an idea of who she REALLY is and what she REALLY went through. As a child, she loved nothing more than beating people up. In a conversation with her older brother, Leonardo, she explains she does it for the greater good. In this instance, she saved a commoner boy.

At her coming out party, we learn that Scarlet is now engaged to the second prince, Kyle. He finds Scarlet and meanly tells her that she works for him now. Throughout their childhood, he tormented and abused her. She decided she would endure it. When she turned 15, she was able to go to the Royal Academy for Nobles. She scored a perfect score and was known as the Icy Rose. However, the torment from the Prince did not end.

We learn that the Prince was dropped from the special curriculum class that Scarlet was a part of. While he continues to berate her outside of class, he suddenly pulls out a dagger and threatens to cut off her silver hair. As things begin to escalate and Scarlet begins to curl up her fist, a voice rings from the tree. It’s the First Prince, Julian. He apologizes for his brother’s behavior.

We learn that there are two princes. The First Prince is Julian, who despises underhanded behavior. Because of this, another factor of nobles gathered to support the Second Prince, Kyle.

Scarlet is used to taking the top spot in school, but upon the release of the score, Julian is suddenly ranked first. As he comes to greet her, she congratulates him. He whispers to her that it was easier than he expected. Taking it as a challenge, she works hard and receives top student again.

After realizing she played into his hand, she swears not to become victim to his provocations again. However, every where she turns, Julius is there saying hello, or asking about the weather. She finally confronts him. During their conversation, it is apparent Julius has been carefully watching her and enjoying her ever-changing looks. Or, could it be he is trying to keep Kyle from pestering her?

But as quickly as those positive feelings come through, the Prince dashes them with immediately showing her his wildlife book and telling her that she’s the most interesting thing he has been able to observe.

Fast forward back to the present.

Scarlet cleans house leaving none unscathed in the ballroom. Enter Prince Julius and her brother. They look upon the aftermath. Prince Julius is obviously amused and her brother is working on an ulcer.

THOUGHTS

Upon watching the first scene, my husband and I were confused because we SWORE we already watched this before. Then it dawned on us that it is almost the same exact opening as I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss.

But, beyond that, we WHOLLY enjoyed the opening episode of this show.

Scarlet is a breath of fresh air. She’s a villainess with a purpose which isn’t always the case. She’s overpowered, but because she has worked hard to be the best at what she does.

The first prince Julian. What a saucy minx. He’s playing with Scarlet in a flirty way and I’m here for it. Is she going to end up with the first prince. Ooo. That would burn Kyle.

Looking forward to the second episode. Will definitely continue to monitor.

  1. I’ve seen a lot of beat-downs, but this might be my favorite. Scarlet was just so gleeful! And her victims so deserving.

      1. Yes, this was so much fun to watch! Scarlet takes so much joy in giving bad guys their come-up’ns! I’m glad she saved Prince Kyle for last, he deserved special treatment for bullying her for literally years.
