IN THE CLEAR MOONLIT DUSK
Episode 1: Prince and Prince
Genre: Romance
This season has been packed with so many anime that I almost missed this one.
We open up with a young school girl trying to get off of a train when suddenly, a handsome person makes way for her.

Flustered, she gets off the train and it takes her a moment to collect herself. During the train ride, all the young girls are admiring the young “boy” as handsome. There is only one problem. “He” is wearing a skirt.
We meet Takiguchi Yoi, a first-year high school student who has acquire the nickname “Prince”. First thing in the morning, a fellow student shakes as she gives the Prince a gift. Yoi doesn’t have the heart to decline the gift.
As she puts the gift in her locker, her friends show up and tease her about still receiving gifts in high school. As they walk down the hall, some of the other girls call to the Prince. One of her friends recalls a moment at field day where Yoi acted like a Prince.

Embarrassed, she decides to let her friends go forward while she takes an alternate route. As she ponders her situation, a male classmate launches himself from the stairs and lands in front of her causing her to fall down. Their eyes lock and the mystery boy tells her:

But he then immediately ruins the moment by seemingly coming to the conclusion that she is a dude. Yoi pushes him off and goes about her way.
In class, the other girls are going crazy about a boy outside. Yoi’s friends tell her it must be the other “Prince”. Yoi goes back to work when suddenly the boy sees her and yells:

The other girls immediately swarm Yoi asking her if she knows Ichimura. Yoi realizes that the boy that knocked her on her ass is none other than the other “Prince”. When his friends asks if he knows Yoi, he says not really. His friends explain they call her Prince even though she’s a girl.

That night, Yoi goes to the konbini thinking over the situation. She sees a drunk man harassing the cashier. Yoi stands up to the man and tells him that he’s bothering her and to go away. He is going to get into Yoi’s face when Ichimura shows up and starts recording the man. When Ichimura realizes it is Yoi, he pushes the man aside and starts asking Yoi if she lives around there. As Ichimura is asking Yoi questions, the drunk man starts to attack Ichimura from behind, but not before Yoi catches him with a karate move.

Then, the manager comes out. Ichimura grabs Yoi and runs out of the store. They end up at the park on the swings. Ichimura is being animated. He tells her that he now understands why the other girls call her the Prince. He tells her that she made his heart flutter. He then asks Yoi if she’s ever been treated like a princess, and he picks her up like one.

She gets down and immediately runs home leaving Ichimura behind. She’s panicked and confused because she’s not the one that’s supposed to be treated like a princess. She stops to calm down. Meanwhile, Ichimura watches her run away and thinks to himself he had a nice time.
The next day at school, she runs into Ichimura on the stairs. There, he confesses how he feels about her and doesn’t really care if people get the wrong idea about them. However, he doesn’t quite know how to express how he feels. Then asks if they could have lunch together. She declines.

It’s lunchtime and Yoi is about to eat with her friends. Before they can get settled, Ichimura shows up at their classroom to eat lunch with Yoi. She immediately pushes him out the door and he takes her to a secluded spot so they could eat lunch together. She begins to notice his slender fingers and his well-balanced face. She decides to start eating lunch and pours out curry. He notices and she admits that her family runs a curry shop. She begs him not to tell anyone because she doesn’t want to be called the “Curry Prince”.

Ichimura laughs and begins to tease Yoi by calling her cute. Yoi tells him to stop teasing her. She tells him she doesn’t know how to react.

THOUGHTS
This season is packed with wonderful romance stories! This episode has plenty of tokidoki moments. Ichimura is deadly without knowing it. His flirting is top notch, but you get the feeling that he isn’t really doing it on purpose. He’s being honest and speaking what’s in his heart.
Will definitely continue to monitor!
