Episode 3: You’re One of Those Insane Fans

Kinoshita is watching a variety show with Tamon and Ouri, another member of F/ACE. As she is commenting on their social media, she suddenly has a flashback of Tamon kissing the necklace she picked.

Back at home, Tamon is working on a script for their variety show. Kinoshita shows up and tells him not to work too hard. She realizes that he gets paired with Ouri a lot and then makes the observation that they’re only close on-screen. Tamon freaks out and immediately apologizes for shattering her dreams and being a fake. But, Kinoshita is moved that he works so hard to make his fans happy and that his acting is perfect. Kinoshita cooks him ginger pork and leaves for the day. On her way home, she turns the corner and runs into Ouri.

Kinoshita panics, gets up, apologizes, then runs away dropping her homemade F/ACE fan. When she realizes it, she goes back to Tamon’s place. She rings the doorbell, but no one answers. She enters and hears someone yelling at Tamon. She advances further into the apartment and finds Ouri yelling at Tamon and hitting him with her homemade fan.

Ouri looks over and realizes a fan is seeing his true nature. He tries to back track and making it look like they’re friends, but Kinoshita is not convinced.

Kinoshita kicks Ouri out of Tamon’s apartment and then immediately goes to see if Tamon is okay. He explains Ouri is always like that so he is used to it. Then, Ouri bursts through the door. He asks who Kinoshita is and she tells him she’s his housekeeper. Ouri begins to put down Tamon saying he is a disgrace and shouldn’t be the group’s center. Kinoshita responds that wherever Tamon is, he’s always the center. Ouri begins to talk down to Kinoshita calling her a crazy fan for not caring that he has a different persona than his idol persona. When Ouri gets too personal, Tamon comes to Kinoshita’s defense.

Kinoshita makes Tamon tea before she leaves. As she leaves, Tamon stops her and asks her to please watch the show. She agrees. As she is about to exit the elevator, Ouri is waiting for her. He threatens her to not talk about his true nature. He doesn’t trust her and tells Kinoshita he can make Tamon do anything for her. She’s insulted.

Going further, Kinoshita tells Ouri that she doesn’t speak about people she doesn’t like, so he doesn’t have to worry. She’ll never speak a word about him again. Then, she leaves.

Summer vacation is about to start. In class, a message from the official F/ACE account comes up. As she watches it, they announce that they’re going to have a competition to choose a new center for F/ACE. After school, she immediately rushes to Tamon and asks him what is going on. His confidence is shot and he tells her that Ouri has always wanted to be center and that maybe it is best that happens. In pure Kinoshita fashion, she does her best to support him.

Kinoshita and her friends gather to watch the first episode of the special. The first battle is who can show the emotion of their new ballad, Rain, the best. Ouri is first and knocks it out of the park. Next is Tamon, but he fails to grasp the heartbreak of the song. His performance doesn’t match up to the song. Tamon ends up in last place. After the show, Ouri pours salt into the wound by telling Tamon he didn’t think Tamon was that much of a failure and he wonders what Kinoshita looks like now that he’s such a failure. When Kinoshita sees him, he is a mess.

Ouri shows up and Kinoshita straight-up ignores his presence. When Ouri tries to call Tamon a one-trick pony, Kinoshita tells him how hard Tamon works. Frustrated by how everyone loves Tamon and how he isn’t center, he grabs Kinoshita and tells her:

THOUGHTS

Ouri is an asshole. Straight up asshole.

I love the relationship between Kinoshita and Tamon. She really is his pillar of support. It’s a real relationship that he is sorely lacking in his life. Everyone wants a piece of him, but she wants to see him succeed.

I hope Tamon finds a way to beat Ouri. What an ass.

One response to “Anime: Tamon’s B-side, Ep. 3”

  1. Totally agree. Ouri is a bully! And what kind of terrible person would pick on such a sweety like Tamon. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body! I’m glad Kinoshita is there to defend Tamon, he needs someone by his side to support him.
