EPISODE 4: You’re a Sniper of Love

We pick up where we left off. Ouri is placing a bet with Kinoshita. If Ouri wins center, she will come over to Ouri. He taunts her and she accepts the bet. Meanwhile, Tamon is having a panic attack.

Kinoshita knows that taking the bet was a bad idea but tries her best to support Tamon. She tells Tamon she’ll do whatever he needs to help him win his position back. She makes him tea and as she sits down, he asks what love is. She tells him she loves him, but it is different than most people define love. So, Tamon asks her to go to a festival. In his mind, the festival is the epitome of love.

He admits that the festival is where he can learn about love. Kinoshita is skeptical about where he is getting his love advice from. She outright denies his request on the principle that a lone fan cannot go out with her idol. Tamon puts his best face forward.

It’s night and Ouri is on his balcony. He sees Tamon leaving. Kinoshita arrives at a festival in a yukata determined to help Tamon. If a festival is what he needs, she is going to do it. When Tamon arrives, he tries to comment on her yukata, but not before she notices his black hair and goes berserk. He looks good with black hair, but it is only a wig. In the distance is Ouri wearing a mask.

Tamon immediately starts panicking trying to find love around him. Tamon tries to compliment her again, but she interrupts him and points at the shooting gallery. She manages to get all of the candy with F/ACE on it while Tamon doesn’t fare so well. He finds a bench and starts crying. It’s hot. It’s itchy. He still doesn’t know what love is. Kinoshita does what she does best. Bring him back to Earth. She reminds him he is a sniper of love and not to give up.

Despite trying their best, they fail. Kinoshita apologizes for being an otaku and Tamon is not understanding what he doesn’t get about love. Tamon goes and get some drinks. While she is waiting for Tamon to come back, a disguised Ouri approaches her. He asks her if she is alone. When she looks up at him, his heart skips a beat.

Tamon is coming up the stairs with ramune when he sees a disguised Ouri hitting on Kinoshita. While blushing, Ouri tells Kinoshita that she looks pretty in her yukata.

Tamon pulls his mask and wig off and asks the disguised Ouri to stop talking to her.

Tamon grabs Kinoshita’s hand and hurriedly walks off. When they get far enough away, he stops and tells her that he thought the same thing. He tells her that he thinks she looks lovely, but immediately goes down the shame spiral.

Kinoshita decides that they’re trying too hard to be people they aren’t, so she offers to hang out with him as friends.

It’s almost time for the fireworks and she takes him to a secret spot so he could take off his wig and mask. There, Tamon pours his heart out to Kinoshita about how he wants people to smile. Kinoshita makes the comment that he looks like he’s in love. She explains to him that maybe the love he is looking for isn’t for a specific person. Maybe it is the feeling of wanting others to be happy or wanting to see them smile. As the fireworks start, he looks over to Kinoshita thinking about her words.

Tamon asks Kinoshita if what he is feeling right now love. She panics and tells him no, it’s just comradery between people pretending to be friends. Tamon tells Kinoshita he is ready for round two.

For round two, it is a physical battle where they have to run across water and Tamon wins thoroughly confusing Kinoshita about why they went to the festival to find love.

THOUGHTS

Oh, Tamon-kun. You’re such a sweet boy. Watching him slowly fall in love without realizing it has been life! The compliment that kept getting interrupted. The panic when another man enters the picture. My heart!

I am really loving the pace of this show. It’s kept me reeled in without being overbearing. I really enjoy the banter between Gloomyhara-san and Kinoshita. Kinoshita is a hoot. If I were young, I would be a Kinoshita. I squee at things so hard!
