Today, I decided to browse the upcoming 2020 fall season of anime releases. The 2020 fall season looks to kick off the first week of October and I am ready for some fresh shows.
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Higurashi When They Cry)
I am a sucker for psychological thrillers. In fact, it is the first genre I look for each season. Looks like we are finally getting one! According to LiveChart, this show is slated for 14 or more episodes continuing into the winter season. I hope for my sake, it is good. It is originally based on a series of horror visual novels that I am unfamiliar with. It has been so long since I have seen a good psychological thriller. I want to say the one that sticks out in my mind is The Promised Neverland. According to the synopsis, our protagonists moves to a peaceful village. Despite it’s idyllic charm, something feels “off” and a sense of dread begins to grow. I am looking forward to this show!
Noblesse
Every season, I look for a “trash” show. I think I found it. Noblesse is about a vampire that awakes after an 802-year slumber. His servant, Frankenstein, enrolls him in high school. Of course there is going to be a secret organization out to take out the vampire. There always is and it never gets old.
Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Raihousha-hen (The Irregular at Magic High School)
I am a big fan of The Irregular at Magic High School. We can all use a little Shiba Tatsuya in our lives. The premiere of the second season of Irregular was pushed back due to COVID, so I am really, really excited to see it. It has been way too long! This season is referred to as the “visitor’s” arc. In this world, magicians are not allowed to travel because it is equivalent to allow a state secret to walk out of your borders. However, there is an exception, and that is where we find ourselves in season 2. The arrival of an “exchange” student also brings with it a mysterious blood-draining being. I am really looking forward to seeing Tatsuya back in action!
Tonikaku Kawaii (Fly Me to the Moon)
This show looks like it could be adorable and very funny. The protagonist makes a name for himself by becoming top of his class in the high school mock exams. He is almost hit by a car and saved by a girl who was enamored with him. Before passing out, he confesses his love to her, and she accepts on the condition of marriage. A few years pass and one day, she arrives on his doorstep. It sounds adorable!
Haikyuu!! TO THE TOP 2 – Crunchyroll
Not a new release, but we are getting more Haikyuu!! I am not too into sports shows, but Haikyuu!! is amazing. I love Hinata. I just want to give him a hug.
I am ready for some new anime. Are there any shows that you are looking forward to in October? Let me know in the comments!
