Gameplay
Have you ever played Tic-Tac-Toe? Same exact concept. The game starts with two teams. Each team picks a character deck. You’re either the unicorns or the dragons. The game grid is placed between the teams. For standard gameplay, only the numbered slots are used. For advanced gameplay, the numbered AND lettered slots are used.

Each player draws five (5) cards. You should have a draw pile and a discard area. Then, each team picks one objective card at random. Do not show your objective card to the other team! Then the gameplay starts.
Your turn has two (2) phases. First phase is to draw a card from the top of your character deck and add it to your hand.
The second phase is the action phase. You can play a character card or a magic card. If you can’t or don’t want to play a card, you can draw a second card.
Your turn is now over. Gameplay continues until three objective cards have been completed. However, if your team runs out of cards before three objectives are cleared, your team automatically loses.

My Thoughts
This game is really, really fun. My husband and I appreciate the fast and easy gameplay. Sometimes, you want to play a game but don’t want to necessarily exercise brain cells to scratch that itch. I love the character cards! They are so stinking cute. The twist on the old classic is definitely worth adding to your game collection.
The only negative aspect of the game is the playing mat. The grid is made of paper that easily folds into the game case. As you can see from the picture below, it doesn’t lay flat. Unfortunately, after-market (unofficial) neoprene mats are twice the base game’s price. I can definitely see this grid mat wearing out pretty quickly. I also recommend picking up card sleeves to keep your cards fresh.
