Episode 7: Glamorous Lady of Summer
Summary
Miyo is awake from the traumatic event. Instead of worrying about herself, she asks how the Saimori family is doing. She asks Lord Kudo to take her to the burned-down estate. Kudo takes Miyo to the burned-down Saimori estate so she can see the destruction herself.

Miyo visits the stump of her mother’s cherry tree one last time. Kudo feels remorse that his actions contributed to the destruction of Miyo’s only positive memory. Miyo touches the stump and something peculiar happens. She is jolted by something and then the stump deteriorates. Miyo comforts Kudo and tells him his actions were for the greater good. Kudo then states that it is time to make their engagement official.
Upon leaving, they run into Koji. Koji asks to speak to Miyo. They make their way to the gazebo they always sit in. Miyo thanks Koji for his involvement in saving her life. He tells Miyo that he is moving to the Old Capitol to train and that she won’t see him for a while. He hints that it is to be able to protect her. He asks if she remembers what he told her in a conversation. When she doesn’t recall, he realizes that Miyo doesn’t share the same vision.
Miyo and Kudo make their engagement official.
One morning, a voice calls at the door. It’s a beautiful woman who ends up being Kudo’s sister. Miyo wants to take classes to become a lady since she is marrying Lord Kudo and wants to make sure she isn’t a disappointment. When she asked Lord Kudo for permission, he contacted his sister to teach Miyo.

Unfortunately, Miyo is still having nightmares. Kudo rushes by her side to soothe her. He suspects that there is an ability user involved. He deduces the only culprit is the Usuba family.
During the night, a ritual is being conducted. A large stone explodes and a heavy fog filled with grotesqueries appears. The next day, Lord Kudo is apprised of the incident. The rock is referred to as “the Grave.”
Thoughts
So far, this anime is not what I originally hoped for. I was hoping for some sappy romance, but instead, there is a more supernatural story intertwined. I am not saying that is bad, but the pace is a bit slow for me. I could have done without the first half of the episode, but I understand its place. The first half of the episode reinforces Miyo’s character. Her character is selfless to a fault. I feel like we already know this; therefore, her selflessness toward the family that abused her is too much for me to stomach. The episode tied up the Koji/Miyo storyline nicely. After Miyo admits she doesn’t know the conversation he is referring to, Koji tells himself it is time to start over. The addition of the sister may be interesting. The story needs a catalyst to transform Miyo from her abused and sheltered self to a more confident lady.
