Episode 3: Paws, Paws, Paws
Momose and Shirosaki run across an abandoned kitten in a box. The kitten seems to like Momose, but hisses at Shirosaki. Shirosaki and Momose agree the kitten should be taken to the vet, but as Shirosaki reaches for the kitten, it draws blood. Instead of being worried that he got slashed by the kitten, Shirosaki was actually happy that he got to feel its paw.

The kitten then jumps onto Shirosaki’s briefcase and starts to scratch it. We get to hear the inner monologue of the kitten who divulges that he scratched his previous owner’s couch and she screamed she hated him and abandoned him. Apparently, the kitten says he scratches things because he doesn’t want to harm his human.
At the vet, another cat is hissing at Shirosaki. Momose and Shirosaki agree that it would be nice if they could hear the kitten’s thoughts on why they hiss. According to the kitten, Shirosaki has cat eyes, but the body of a human. In other words, they think he’s a monster.
Momose and Shirosaki make it to a home goods store to get the pertinent supplies. Momose waits in the car. Shirosaki almost leaves $70 worth of supplies at the checkout.

The next day, Shirosaki struggles to come up with a name. While having coffee together, Momose is moved at how lucky he is to have Shirosaki as a manager. However, Shirosaki misinterprets his small tears as being sad that he didn’t get the kitten. Shirosaki’s answer is to announce on the train that he’s giving Momose a key to his apartment!

It’s Sunday and Shirosaki spends the day doing chores and playing with the kitten. He even sews a stuffed animal for the kitten. When the kitten was sleepy, he covered the kitten in a blanket.

Shirosaki finally comes up with a name for the kitten. Hakutou.
THOUGHTS
What a cute episode! I burst out laughing when Shirosaki gave Momose a key to his house on the train. Shirosaki is unaware of his surroundings. That is what makes Shirosaki so wholesome. There was a lot less interaction with Momose in this episode and more focus on the kitten who had its own inner monologue. The kitten has a great personality and it is adorable to watch the kitten go from abandoned to loved.
