EP 2: Should I carry you piggyback?
The comedy continues early on in the episode with Momose and Shirosaki running into each other at the street crossing. Shirosaki comments that the cicadas are especially loud. What he doesn’t realize is there is a cicada on his shoulder.
In the office, Shirosaki is showing Momose how to complete a task. Momose thanks him and mentions that no other boss has taken the time to show him how to complete tasks. When Shirosaki asks, Momose clams up afraid to vent about his prior work situation. Sensing the discomfort, Shirosaki immediately changes the subject and says they should take a break. As Shirosaki stretched above his head, an eraser was stuck to his arm. It falls and scares him because he thought it was a cicada.

Shirosaki shares a story of why he is afraid of cicadas and monsters which Momose finds endearing. Later that day, Shirosaki mentions that he nominated Momose to be featured as a competent employee in the company newsletter. Momose is flattered and extremely happy. Shirosaki takes a few photos for the newsletter. As Shirosaki tries to send the pictures to public relations, he accidentally sets the picture of Momose as his desktop image.

The following day, Shirosaki tells Momose that their new project is an ad for an amusement park. He also informs Momose that there will be a fire inspection and to not mind the alarm. Momose instantly has a flashback of how his old boss pushed him down when a small fire broke out at his previous job. When the alarm finally went off, Shirosaki immediately ran over to Momose and tried to save him. When Momose failed to move, Shirosaki assumed it was due to fear and offered to carry him piggyback. Then, Shirosaki remembers it was an inspection.

Shirosaki and Momose head to the amusement park and they ride the rides to get an idea of how to market the amusement park. While enjoying their day, a lost child comes up. They realize the boy is lost. Shirosaki takes the boy to the tourist center and accidentally gives the office his name instead of the boy’s. As they announce Shirosaki’s name, Momose makes his way to the office.
The next stop on their amusement park tour is the haunted house. Momose already knows that Shirosaki is afraid of monsters and scary things. However, Shirosaki makes it clear that you have to experience things that make you uncomfortable to make a fair judgment. Upon the first scare, Shirosaki grabs Momose. By the end of the haunted house, Shirosaki is plastered to Momose.

On the way back from the amusement park, the train is suddenly stopped by a power outage. It is during the power outage that Momose discloses the reason why he found the courage to resign from his old job. There was an ad that made Momose research the company that made it and applied there. Momose finds out that it was Shirosake’s ad. Once their heartfelt conversation is over, the train comes up to the next stop. Shirosake gets off the train only to realize that he got off at the wrong stop. Momose is thankful for Shirosake coming into his life.
THOUGHTS
This show is so wholesome! It is refreshing to watch a show that is not worried about masculinity. I think it is a commentary on how toxic male relationships in anime can be. These two characters are positive influences on each other. It is okay for men to think positively about each other and enjoy each other’s company. Setting all of that aside, it is a good commentary on job dissatisfaction and the motivation to make a change. I feel that many of us experience this exact sentiment in real life. This episode definitely relays that change is scary, but also can be the best move you can make.
