EPISODE 4: WANNA LIVE WITH ME?

Momose is still struggling with reacting like his boss will abuse him. Shirasaki leans forward to remove a string from Momose’s shoulder and he flinches. Sitting next to them is a stranger getting abused over the phone by his boss. Momose can relate. After seeing a positive interaction between Momose and Shirosaki, the stranger asks for Shirosaki’s business card.

As Momose gets to the elevator the next day, the stranger is also there. Kinjo is his name and he switched to Momose’s company. Kinjo, however, does not get assigned to Shirosaki, but instead, gets assigned to the section chief, Aoyama. Kinjo learns that Aoyama is recently divorced and lonely, so Kinjo tries his best to give Aoyama attention.

Momose and Shirosaki are working on a project. Shirosaki tells Momose to find a picture of a cute animal to put on it. Kinjo suggests a tanuki, so they “Coogle” pictures of one. When Momose calls the manager to look at the tanukis, Shirosaki looks out of the window for tanukis even though they are on the 36th floor.

On a break, Kinjo asks why Momose left his last job. He could tell immediately that he should change the subject. Kinjo and Momose quickly bond as they both came from abusive situations. Kinjo suggests that Momose go drinking and get drunk with Shirosaki to break the nervousness Momose feels.

Aoyama bought a house right before his wife left him for another person. Because he is so lonely, he has a habit of ordering bears online to keep him company.

Kinjo and Momose run into each other at the stoplight. When Kinjo asks where Shirosaki is, Momose tells him he is going straight to a client. Momose’s reply to Shirosaki was very stiff and Kinjo asks why he doesn’t use emojis. Momose learns that Shirosaki sends Kinjo stickers and emojis. Kinjo grabs Momose’s phone and sends a more relaxed, friendly message with stickers. Meanwhile, Shirosaki keeps mistyping his responses.

Back in the office Aoyama is being needy. No one seems to notice him, but Kinjo does his best to make Aoyama feel needed. He asks Aoyama if he can leave on time for his haircut since his work is done for the day. Aoyama internally thinks he cut off an inch of his hair and no one noticed. However, Kinjo did notice. He sent a text after he left.

After work, the crew is getting drunk together. Shirosaki divulges that his prior girlfriend cheated on him. He admits that it was probably his fault because he is not interesting. When Kinjo asks how he figured it out, Shirosaki tells them she called him by another man’s name. Talk about harsh. When it was time to go home, Shirosaki thought his cat was a bag.

Momose ends up falling asleep at Shirosaki’s place. Momose heads home to change. Meanwhile, Shirosaki planned to send Momose a text thanking him. However, he called instead and put the phone in his pocket. Talking to Hakutou, he says that Momose is a good kid. Overhearing this, Momose is moved.

THOUGHTS

Another cute episode. I liked that they finally introduced the section chief and gave him a little highlight into what his life is like. Kinjo is a perfect match to raise Aoyama’s spirits. Aoyama is kind of a Debbie Downer, so I hope his interactions with Momose and Kinjo help him readjust to life.
