EPISODE 7: BAN

In the last episode, we learned that Pico was an AI and was then uninstalled. Taichiro’s father, Kojiro, is hunting for at least three more cores of the Black Bird.

Back on the ship, Shigatera goes into the Captain’s Quarters to stop Pico. However, Pico is not there. As he goes out of the Captain’s Quarters, Ichi’s dying body is in front of Shigatera. The Pirate’s weapon is overpowered. Ichi tells Shigatera not to quit because, with Pico’s help, they are going to build a guild 10,000 strong and beat Shigatera.

As Ichi disappears, the Black Bird appears.

Shigatera tries to attack, but the Black Bird dodges. Then, the Black Bird attacks, but before he could die, Shigatera logs out. In the real world, Shigatera feels sick. As he is about to log back in because of the money he could win, he sees something out of the corner of his eye. Standing behind him is the Black Bird.

Kojiro is still recovering from his session to kill Pico. He explains to his assistant that the Black Bird is the worst AI he created and that it will infect people’s minds. Shigatera, in real life, gets a notification on his phone telling him a durability test will begin. He gets hit by a truck. The Black Bird surrounds Shigatera’s dead body and says it is too weak. Shigatera screams. Was it a dream? Then, he receives a second message that the next durability test will begin. In the corner of his room, a fire starts. He burns to death. Again, he wakes up. The Black Bird is putting him through numerous “durability” tests.

Back in Planet, Leon of Granada is telling his companion that once your mind is infected by the Black Bird, you die. Your mind is converted into data and then taken to a different world.

Shigatera has been through over a million durability tests.

Leon is telling his colleague to not feel sorry for Shigatera. Allegedly, Shigatera was making a fortune selling virtual currency for real money. According to Leon, real money transactions are despicable. As Leon and his buddy disappear, the ship collapses out of the air.

Learning that Pico is gone, Taichiro has a breakdown. His mother comes up behind him and tells him she is home. Just as soon as she is home, she begins to leave again. Taichiro tells her about Asuma being in the hospital. She says she is going to go visit him and invites Taichiro. When they arrive at Asuma’s room, they find something very different.

THOUGHTS

What another great episode! I am interested to find out who Leon of Granada really is. How does he know so much about the Black Bird and how to summon it? I can’t believe he sacrificed Shigatera to the Black Bird for corrupting the game. It is crazy to think that once you are infected by the Black Bird, you die. Does that mean Asuma is infected by the Black Bird? The fact that white feathers are falling tells me no. He is infected by something else. I could be wrong. In any case, what a turn of events!
