EPISODE 6: THE ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD

Rishe lies on the floor of a dungeon-like room. Three hooded figures enter the room. Then the voice of Prince Theodore booms. When asked why he kidnapped Rishe, Theodore replies that the only time his brother pays attention to him is when he is angry. Rishe sees through his facade and tells Theodore that he only kidnapped her because he wants a better relationship with his brother. Theodore walks off.

In a flashback, Rishe is thinking about her collapse from exhaustion. Her maid Elsie and one of the guards walks in. Rishe figured out that Prince Theodore ordered Elise and the guard, Sir Kamil, to do something. Rishe figured out that they were the only two from the slums that work for her. This is important because Prince Theodore has been focusing his work on the slums. Sir Kamil admits that Prince Theodore ordered them to imprison her. Rishe goes without a fight.

Prince Theodore meets with Prince Arnold. He exclaims that this is the first time they’ve met to talk. Prince Arnold is impatient and asks what Theodore wants. Theodore wants to be next in line to the throne. If Arnold submits, he will return Rishe unharmed. Theodore then goes on a rant at how much Arnold adores Rishe and how he can’t bother with Theodore. Theodore wants nothing more than Arnold to admit Theodore has won. Arnold shows no emotion, but instead asks if Rishe was put in a real prison. Theodore admits that he put her in a room like a prison and locked the door. He has “rough types” watching her and it’s on a second floor. Arnold tells Theodore that there was no way for him to win. Rishe then bursts into the room. Arnold was clearly waiting for her.

Rishe has come to settle business with Prince Theodore. She offers him advice. First, never take your eyes off the prisoner leaving at least two guard with them. Second, the prisoner should be examined naked so they can’t hide weapons or tools. Third, shackle their arms behind their back and tie them to a pillar or bed. As she approaches Theodore, he has fear in his eyes. Rishe continues to tell him that he should break both arms and legs and only then has he truly taken someone prisoner.

Arnold then covers Rishe with his jacket. Rishe protests because the scars on his neck will be exposed. Theodore realizes he never knew about the scars. Rishe asks what Theodore’s goal is. He tells her to be next in line for the throne. As she questions his motives, Theodore becomes agitated. She surmises that his ploy was to actually be seen as a criminal and unfit for the throne. Arnold stops the inquisition by Rishe and tells Rishe that he told her not to interact with Theodore. She tries to explain that Theodore just wants to be closer to Arnold, but Arnold stops her in her tracks and tells her that he doesn’t care. Prince Theodore runs off.

Rishe has a theory that Theodore senses that Arnold plans on leaving the throne. Therefore, Theodore tried to disgrace himself so that Arnold is trapped. She also has a theory that Theodore is right. Arnold, once again, tells her to leave Theodore alone, however, she can’t help herself. Using what energy she has left, she finds Theodore to confront him.

Theodore is on a high landing remembering a moment when his brother saved his life. Rishe approaches him. The exchange a conversation where Theodore says he’s been watching his brother and knows he intends to disappear. Theodore admits his adoration of his brother. Rishe tells Theodore she needs his strength, but Theodore admits that he isn’t a strength to anyone. Feeling that he has no other option, Theodore throws himself off the ledge. She tries to stop him, but her legs give out. As he falls, Arnold reaches out and grabs him.

Arnold slaps Theodore for his actions. Rishe explains that Theodore only wants to be a strength to his big brother. Theodore admits that is all he wants because he looks up to his big brother. Theodore then starts to cry and apologize. Rishe, happy that they mended things, passes out from exhaustion.

Rishe awakes in her room with Arnold in her room. He hands her a letter from Theodore. It’s an apology and his promise to allow her to use his people in the slums. He wants to help her carve a different path for his big brother. Arnold tells Rishe to think of something she wants. When she looks confused, he reminds her that he broke his promise not to touch her again. She recalls the kiss and becomes bashful.

THOUGHTS

I liked this episode, however, her intuition is a bit much. I’m not sure anyone could have figured out both brother’s intentions on the little bit of information she possessed. That part of the episode is a little far-fetched for me. I did quite enjoy her escape from the “prison” Theodore left her in. Her skills from her previous life was on full display. I also enjoyed the closing scene of her recalling their shared kiss. It was adorable. Will continue to monitor.
