Ah, summer. The season when children are out of school and vacation plans are abound. My son is 24 years old, so no more summer time shenanigans in this household. That being said, I still make summertime goals.
READING
Summer is usually a good time to get in some reading. This summer, I am going to be focusing on the Zodiac Academy series. Think of Harry Potter meets Twilight, except a little more mature. This is a new genre for me. It is listed as “new adult paranormal.” I like the term “new adult.” It makes me giggle. I assume they mean college-aged readers.
Long story short, a set of twins are whisked away to another world that revolves around the zodiac. While there, they learn that they are Fae. People that can shift into other creatures and use magic. The twins also learn that their descendants to the throne of Solaria. They don’t want the throne, they just want the money! That doesn’t stop the Celestial Counsel from wanting them gone. The only problem is, the four heirs to the Counsel are stupidly hot. Their time at Zodiac Academy is filled with more obstacles than they can count. Can they survive this dog-eat-dog world?
There are ten books. If I budget my time wisely, I might be able to get through the bulk by the end of summer. I am already well into book number three.

MANGA
I have a few series that I am jumping into.
- Hirano and Kagiura
- My Love Mix-Up
- Waiting for Spring
I hope to continue write-ups of My Love Mix-Up for the blog over the summer. I might even find other manga content.
MOVING BACK INTO THE OFFICE
Quick recap: New office had a fire/flood last year. Moved to temporary office while new office is being renovated. Temporary office had a smallish flood last week. New office should be ready for move in by the first week in August.
I cannot explain how excited I am to redo my office space. I am in misery in this temporary office. Okay, not misery. I am being a bit dramatic. I have none of my “stuff” and no drawers so my desktop looks like chaos invited himself over and had a paper party on my desk. I’m looking forward to my new office furniture and giving my office my personal touch.
THE GYM
I haven’t been diligent going to the gym. The past two weeks, I’ve only gone once a week. I want to make it my summer goal to up that to three times a week consistently. So far, I’ve lost 10 lbs. I have always said weight loss isn’t my goal, but losing weigh is a nice byproduct of just trying to build walking stamina.
Do you have any good summer plans?
