Daily writing prompt
What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever eaten?

This is a hard one! I have had the pleasure of trying so many delicious foods. It is really difficult for me to pick just one, so I am breaking the rules.

APPETIZER

The most delicious appetizer I have ever had is super simple. Fried mozzarella. There is something to be said about its simplicity. I love fried mozzarella with marinara. When I precede a good meal with fried mozzarella, I am one happy dude.

SOUP

Excuse my conceit, but the most delicious soup I’ve ever had is my homemade baked potato soup. It is probably basic to most, and that’s okay. You can probably see a trend here. I like to keep it simple.

ENTREE

Following the trail of super simple eats, the most delicious entrée I have ever eaten is Home Slice Pizza in Austin, Texas. I have had BBQ from some of the most famous places in Texas. I’ve eaten at high-end restaurants. Nothing beats a pepperoni mushroom pizza from Home Slice.

SIDE DISH

This one is also very hard. I love a simple steamed broccoli or steamed vegetables. However, the most delicious side I’ve ever had is Rudy’s creamed corn. I love the thick consistency and the sweetness.

DESSERT

A good crème Brulee. There is something magical about taking the spoon and cracking the surface. Pair it with some raspberries and *chef’s kiss*

What about you? Do you have that one ultimate food that you find rules the rest?

  1. Being able to cook one of your own favorite foods is actually pretty cool 😎 I love all kinds of sushi, and that would take time and care to learn.

    1. I wish I loved sushi. It makes me feel like a Japanese-enthusiast failure LOL!

      1. LoL 😆 That’s ok, I don’t love kimchi so I totally failed at being a Koreaboo 😂

  2. Hmm, I think this question is too hard for me. It would be like asking what was my favorite single flower in a glorious sun drenched meadow, like asking which was my favorite cloud in the vast beautiful sky, the answer is, I love them all! Yes, I’m still talking about food. I’ve had a weird quirk of loving nearly all things I taste since I was a very little kid. My nickname as a toddler was “Little Miss Yumyum”. While my other toddler siblings were very picky eaters, I would eat anything. Brussel sprouts? Sure! Oysters? Down the hatch! Cold canned spinach? I would eat that up as a little kid too. My mom couldn’t find anything that I wouldn’t eat. And I haven’t ever really grown out of that. Really the only thing I don’t like the taste of is very bitter things or very sour things. Like once I was dared to drink a shot of distilled white vinegar, and that was so bad! But other than that, I can’t think of any food I don’t love.

    1. I’m a pretty picky eater. I wish I was more adventurous. I try and usually fail epically. For example, sushi. I wish I loved sushi, but I just can’t do it.

      1. Oh, there’s so many different kinds of sushi, maybe you just haven’t found the right kind for your taste buds? Have you tried the deep fried sushi? If you like crunchy things, it might be right up your alley. If you like barbecue, you might like unagi sushi. It’s a grilled sushi with a sweet barbecue-y sauce on it. If you like rice bowls, you might like chirashi sushi, it’s a layered rice dish with sushi rice on bottom and layers of toppings like egg crepe, chopped veggies, and meaty bits. If you like deli sandwiches, you might like a Korean sushi called Kimbap/Gimbap. It’s a rolled sushi that features fillings like strips of lunch meat, cheese, strips of veggies and pickles. The wonderful world of sushi is much more vast than most people realize, and I hope you can find some version that will be tasty for you! Hmm, I wonder if there’s a dessert sushi out there some where?
