Episode 3: The Villainess and Trespassing
Alicia wakes up with memories of Prince Duke feeding her medicine by mouth. A bit embarrassed, she recalls that she has more important things to think about. She decides she is going to infiltrate the Magic Academy to see the heroine.
When she gets to the Academy, she gets lost. She runs into Liz Cather who admits she is a commoner. Alicia deduces that Liz is the heroine. Liz immediately takes Alicia by the hand and leads Alicia to the school building. When Liz is approached by friends, Alicia quickly ducks behind a pillar. Prince Duke is strolling by when Liz stops him to tell him about the little girl she ran into. Meanwhile, the friends are admiring how good Prince Duke and Liz look together.
Alicia sneaks into the school while class is in session and goes into the library where she gushes over the books. Then, she notices a question on the blackboard. In one of the classrooms, the girls exclaim how a smart little girl is in the library answering the task on the blackboard. As they describe the girl, her brother realizes who it is. And, so does Prince Duke.

After getting scolded by her brother Albert, she is walking down the hall. She hears her father and another noble talking about a “divergent.” She immediately walks in the room. Scared of what she might have heard, Lord Joan wants to erase her memories. However, Alicia promises not to tell anyone that Liz is a divergent. Satisfied, they don’t wipe her memories.
Alicia continues to practice magic. She learns a level 10 spell with the intention of cleaning Roana’s water. However, she quickly learns her spell is too low level. As she is about to try a higher level spell, she is interrupted by her brother, Albert. He invites her to tea with everyone. As she exits the door, she realizes “everyone” included Liz.
In the parlor, Prince Duke beckons Alicia to sit next to him. She sits next to him while they discuss the school fair. Alicia then realizes something.

Alicia is a bit jealous. She has inner turmoil as she tries to surmise what she wants to do. In the end, she decides that she should say that she is the best fit for the Prince, but then quickly realizes that would mean she confessed.
Liz is being overly nice and annoying Alicia. So, Alicia suggests that Liz should do a demonstration of her magic. Alicia thinks that Liz would decline because a heroine would hate to bring that kind of attention to themselves, but Liz thinks it is a great idea. She invites Alicia to go on stage with her, but Alicia quickly declines. Liz keeps pushing the matter. Prince Duke immediately sticks up for Alicia.

Alicia bites back making Liz think she doesn’t like her. Alicia’s brother Albert tells Alicia that she should get to know Liz before deciding they don’t mesh well together. Alicia gets stuck talking to Liz for hours. Alicia finally has enough and summons flowers to her using magic. The atmosphere in the room changes. Her brother calls Alicia the divergent. He sends everyone home.
Alicia goes to Will and learns most people don’t get magically abilities until they turn 13. She’s three years ahead of schedule. He tells her a story of someone he knew that was a divergent. They were too cocky and tried to use level 100 magic. Their mana went out of control and they were never able to use magic again.
Gill, the young boy she saved, wakes up. He doesn’t want anything to do with her. But, being the villainess, she provokes him and tells him that maybe he should just die if he keeps running away from people.

She threatens him with magic. He throws his pillow at her. She then praises him for fighting back. She tells him that as long as he has the will to fight, she will do her best to protect him. She tells him that she will bring him with her. When he asks why, she says he would be a good resource.
In a round table discussion, the nobles decide to watch Alicia and make sure she is trained properly in magic. They tell Alicia the King wants to accelerate her entrance into the Magic Academy. Three years have passed. She meets with the King and confirms her enrollment into the Magic Academy. The King proposes that Alicia be Liz Cather’s watcher.
THOUGHTS
I wasn’t as excited about this episode as I have been for the previous two. I think Liz Cather ruins it for me. I, too, am more of a villainess. I can’t stand the goody-two-shoes act. It ruffles my feathers.
In the round-table discussion, they talk about the possibility that Alicia is the Saint. However, they quickly point out that Liz is a commoner, able to use all branches of magic, and caused the golden rose to bloom. However, what if they’re wrong? What if Liz really is the divergent and Alicia is the Saint. After all, Alicia does saintly like acts with a villainess flair.
Will continue to monitor.
