If you love anime, you most likely see your qualities in your favorite (or not so favorite) characters. I can relate to a lot of anime characters, but the following stick out to me the most.

SAIKI K. – The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

Oh, Saiki K. How do I relate to thee? You either love or hate this show. I admit that I haven’t watched the whole series, but have watched enough of it to realize that I want the same thing Saiki does. PEACE FROM EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING! LOL.

Saiki is an introverted high school kid who wants nothing more than a normal life. He possesses psychic abilities and wants those abilities to say hidden. He likes to keep to himself and avoid situations that draw attention. That’s me in a nutshell. I like cruising under the radar.

Makima – Chainsaw Man

This one might confuse people because it is a side of me that I know I have. Makima is the master manipulator who uses her intellect to control people and situations. She does whatever it takes to reach her goals. I can be just as cunning as Makima when I want to. In fact, I can think of times in my youth where I did some shady things to get what I want with no remorse. I don’t think I am that person anymore, but man. I know if I am in a situation where it is needed, I’m more than capable.

Raphtalia – The Rising of the Shield Hero

Fiercely loyal. Those are the two words I think of when I think of Raphtalia. The Shield Hero saves her from slavery and she becomes the sword to his shield. She loyally follows him, despite some of his shadier and darker moments, often calling him back from the depths of hell. I am a very loyal person. I will follow you to the ends of the Earth if I deem you worthy.

Naofumi – The Rising of the Shield Hero

On the flip side, I relate to Naofumi and see parts of myself in him. He was betrayed, framed for a crime he didn’t do. To survive, he had to rely on his creativity and wits to make it in a world he didn’t belong in. Despite the stacked odds against him, he managed not only to survive, but became stronger. Like Naofumi, I am slow to trust people because of betrayal in my life. For awhile, Naofumi just wanted to watch the world burn, and when someone crosses me, they’re dead to me. And, if needed, I will watch the world burn.

What characters can you relate to?

  1. I’ve always connected with Roronoa Zoro from One Piece because of his determination, D from Vampire Hunter D because of his stoicism, and Takashi Komuro from Highschool of the Dead because he was me in high school (minus the zombies).

  2. I relate to Zoey from K-Pop Demon Hunters. I also have notebooks packed with ideas, a mind that doesn’t shut off and I know what it’s like being caught between two cultures. Also, I’m like Shikamaru from Naruto. I often can’t be bothered with troublesome things and will find a smart/lazy way to use less effort. I’m probably closer to Mamoru from Hatarakanai Futari with a smidge of Maruyama from the same manga.

  3. Hmm, that’s an interesting question, what anime characters I identify with the most? First would be Naname from Kamisama Kiss, much like her I have freakishly bad luck, to the point that it’s actually pretty funny. Next would be Yomiko Readman from Read or Die. I love books, go a little nutty in bookstores, and would happily spend my days curled up reading. And lastly, Ota from Tanaka kun is Always Listless. I don’t have a lot of friends or people I care about, but the ones I do have I like to take care of them and watch out for them the best I can.
