Not only do I listen to BTS as a group, I also support all of their individual efforts. Serendipity is a beautiful song about love sung by Jimin. Jimin’s voice is what drew me to BTS. He has the voice of an angel. It’s so pure and unique. I can listen to him sing forever.
If you’ve been keeping up with my music posts, I’ve let you into a part of me that I don’t easily share. Long story short, I once had someone in my life that I thought was it. The person I would share forever with. It was complicated. He was four years older than me, and trying to navigate that was a challenge. I dated boys my age, but I always found myself going back to him. I wish I could express how full he made my heart every day. When we thought we both finally had it figured out, he was hit by a drunk driver on my birthday while he was on his way to see me. I was laying in the bed next to him when they took him off life support. You don’t love like that and not walk away with trauma.
I honestly never thought I would love again. I was in relationships, but they were hollow and empty. Just me trying to fill a void that couldn’t be filled. I was filled with insecurity and jealousy, none of which are conducive to a good relationship.
Then, I met Casey.
He lived in Kansas at the time. As my first marriage fell apart, he called and texted me every day telling me to get off my ass, take care of my son, pack my shit, leave my ex behind and never look back. He was a constant source of support. I decided to go back to school. Every night, he called me to make sure I was doing okay. Slowly, I began to thaw.
We finally decided to meet in person. At the airport, he stood there with a sugar-free Monster and I laughed. He was just like Aleksei. Remembered all the small things that made me feel loved. It wasn’t long after that, he moved to Texas and we started a life together. We married not long after that.
The first time I heard Serendipity, I immediately thought of Casey. This song is my confession to him. After years of pretending, confusion, and trauma. I finally found the missing piece to heal my heart. Often, I wish there were words that could encompass what I felt for him…and then Serendipity entered my life.
BTS is often criticized for lip syncing. This video is a good one. You can definitely tell Jimin is singing live with a track so he can find time to breathe. The choreography is crazy.
