I admit. We shouldn’t have a “favorite” act of kindness. We should be grateful for whatever act of kindness we are afforded, but let’s be honest. We’re human. We all have our preferences.
When I was a teenager, I loved this act of kindness. Aleksei always showered me with them.
But, then. Somewhere in my first marriage, the meaning soured. They no longer meant something positive. It meant last-minute planning and thinking. It meant all I was worth was a last-minute shopping trip to the grocery store.
Even now, my current husband thinks they’re a waste of money. He never buys them for me even though he knows how much I love them. I buy them for myself and you know what? That’s okay.
My favorite act of kindness is receiving flowers. I always get them from work and my co-workers and that’s enough to make me feel loved and appreciated. When I went on my last vacation, my co-worker had some waiting for me on my desk.

My favorite flower has changed so much over the years. Currently, it has reverted back to the basic rose. There is something so iconic about the classic rose. I also love hydrangeas, wisterias (which I think is actually a vine), and peonies. Any purple/lavender flower, really.
So, there you have it. My favorite act of kindness. Flowers.
