While this technically isn’t enough, it is enough for now.

EPISODE 9: SELF-AWARENESS

At the demon gathering, Reiya is still uneasy. Takamichi informs Reiya that Yuzu’s grandparents have turned down the offer to move into his complex. But, before he could get back down to business he gets ambushed by his doting parents.

They are their usual high-energy selves until Reiya starts to walk off, but then his father reminds him briefly why he’s the top ogre. He tells him not to get bewitched by a fox because the next Kiryuin clan head must be better than that.

Of course, he would know. You can’t judge a book by its cover. Just because his father acts ridiculous doesn’t mean he is. He’s the most powerful ogre for a reason.

Yuzu is on her way back to the mansion. As she arrives, it LOOKS like Takamichi and Reiya are kissing. Panicked, she rushed out of the car and into Reiya’s arms where she kisses him passionately and confesses her love to him.

She brings up the rumor that Reiya and Takamichi are dating and that Sakurako is the one that told her the rumor. Scooping her up in his arms, he tells Takamichi to summon her and her brother immediately.

Reiya talks to Yuza and reassures her that Takamichi is just his retainer. She shows him the book Sakurako gave him and he throws it in the trash. He says it is nonsense someone made up just to make it look like they had a relationship. He wouldn’t like to Yuzu.

Once they show up, Reiya confronts them both, however, Sakurako truly believes that there is a relationship between Reiya and Takamichi. Ouga, her brother, profusely apologizes, but then states that they are partly to blame. Reiya only allows Takamichi to be around him and Reiya treats both men and woman coolly. All the schoolgirls bought into this as being a BL relationship including Sakurako. The fact that Takamichi complained about Yuzu in the beginning solidified this fact in Sakurako’s mind. Then, Ouga pulls out the cherry on top. Sakurako’s BL manga collection which is scandalous and immediately burned to a crisp.

As Sakurako apologizes to Yuzu, Yuzu counters with a proposal that Sakurako help teach her the things she doesn’t know about being Reiya’s bride.

It is then that Takamichi begins to realize how important Yuzu is. He sees that they are destined to be together. How lonely Reiya was before she came into his life and how lonely Yuzu was before he came into hers. He realizes how rude he was being and apologizes to Yuzu and tells her will support her as best he can.

The next day, Takamichi looks like death. Yuzu barges into Reiya’s room to find him half naked.

He hugs her and tells he she needn’t be embarrassed. He tells her he is taking her to the banquet. At work, Ouga tattles and tells Yuzu that Takamichi was punished for complaining about Yuzu to Sakurako.

Back at the fox clan house, Karin is going berserk. She is about to lose her cool and leave house arrest. Youta is doing his best to keep her there. Karin runs into her parents. They tell her to apologize to Yuzu. They tell her that the fox clan has cut them off and told them to move far away. Karin asks why she should apologize and her parents berate her and tell her she’s selfish. They give her a note to give to Yuzu.

She immediately tears the note up and throws a temper tantrum and blames Yuzu for everything. She calls Yuzu ordinary and points out that every since she became a bride no one gives her what she wants. It’s all Yuzu’s fault.

THOUGHTS:

I am glad that Yuzu had the courage to tell Reiya about Sakurako and the rumors. That would have really lowered the quality of this anime if they allowed that to linger more than 1 episode. I was hoping for the BL angle if I am being honest. That gave me a good chuckle.

Oh, Karin. You are finally getting what a spoiled brat deserves. Her parents are getting what they deserve, too!

I am very excited to see what goes down at the demon banquet. I don’t think Youta is going to be able to keep a leash on Karin. She’s going to break.

Will continue to monitor.
