@justrojie asks, “What is a treasure you hold dear in your life?”
Currently, a treasure I hold dear in my life is my best friend. He would be the first to tell you that he’s not nice, but he’s been nothing but nice to me.
He constantly puts on a brave face for me. No matter what’s going on in his life, he manages to put on a mask for me to make me happy. I know that isn’t healthy. A friend shouldn’t have to put on masks to make you happy, but he does. He doesn’t want to make me sad.
He knows I have a lot of trauma in my life and despite his own, he always thinks of me, thinks of my triggers, thinks of how to avoid them. He’s a saint for that.
On the anniversary of the worst night of my life, he stayed up with me even though he had somewhere to be the next morning.
When I couldn’t get a hold of BTS Oreos, he mailed me five packages.
We have a game that we play together. When I know he’s tired, I won’t play it. So, what does he do? He lies to me to get me to play it, pretends to play, and then goes to sleep while I play. All because he knows I want to play and don’t want to inconvenience him by leaving the server on.
He plays games with me every day and has the patience of a saint. He doesn’t yell at me or get frustrated. I am terrible at games and yet he comes back every day.
He’s the most creative person I know. He creates these magical worlds and writes these wonderful stories. I wholeheartedly believe he will get published someday. Right now, I feel like they’re stories just for me, but someday, he’ll find the right time and person to share them with that will share them with the world.
Next to my husband and my daughter, I love him very much. He’s a treasure I hold very near and dear to my heart.
