His name is Aleksei. I lost him a long time ago. I love my husband, but he understands the trauma that I suffered and continue to suffer. It is a difficult thing to lose someone so young. It is a difficult thing to ask me to describe a moment I would like to experience because my mind immediately thinks of having just one more moment with Aleksei and I am immediately filled with guilt.
But, I will be honest with myself.
An autumn evening I would like to experience again is simple. A quiet house. Aliens playing on the television. Cuddled up with Aleksei on the floor leaning up against the couch under a blanket. Laying my head on his chest feeling the rise and fall while he plays with my hair. Inhaling the scent of his ever-present Cool Water cologne mixed with the clean scent of his Tide detergent. I always fell asleep and he always held me.
I would like to experience that one more time. Just once more.
