Adulthood. It sucks. I absolutely hate it. What was I thinking when I was a young teenager wanting to grow up so fast? If only I could rewind time and tell myself to slow my roll and just enjoy those years living rent free. And this is where I come clean and give you examples of “I’m not lazy, I’m just selectively motivated.”

  • I will binge watch 6 hours of anime, but can’t find the hour it takes to fold and hang up laundry.
  • I’ll clean the bathroom from top to bottom, but can’t find the five minutes it takes to return a phone call.
  • Sometimes (not all the time), I’ll drive 30 minutes to pick up food, but won’t walk 2 minutes to the kitchen to cook.
  • I will create a database of our entire movie collection before I will do a sinkful of dishes.
  • I will stay up until 3 a.m. blogging, but complain about having to wake up at 6 a.m.
  • I’ll memorize the entire backstory of my favorite anime character, but not remember what I needed from the grocery store.
  • I’ll learn the lyrics to a BTS song in Korean, but fail to memorize something I need for work.
  • I’ll spend 30 minutes trying to figure out how to automate a 5 minute task.
  • I’ll spend 30 minutes researching YouTube for instructions instead of reading the instruction manual.

What about you? Are you selectively motivated?
