We all love our anime characters, but some, need to seek a mental intervention. Like now. Who would you recommend for a couple therapy sessions? Also, spoiler alerts.

Gasai Yuno – My Future Diary

Need I say more? Girl has some serious problems. She’s possessive, violent, and obsessive. Her obsession with Yuki is among the most impressive of all the anime I have ever watched. On the outside, she’s sweet, intelligent, and protective of the people she cares about, but deep down, she’s manipulative, calculating and willing to kill to protect Yuki. Her duality is amazing. Her attachment issues stem from a traumatic past and she could benefit from therapy to deal with her past trauma.

Arima Kousei – Your lie in april

Where do I start with Kousei? He is a child pianist prodigy who is verbally, and arguably, physically abused by his mother which turns him into a perfectionist. After the death of his mother, he develops a psychological break that prevents him from hearing his own playing. He then meets Kaori who he falls in love with who eventually breaks him free from his psychological break, but she dies in the process. If that doesn’t spell a multitude of traumas, I don’t know what does. He could definitely benefit from some counseling.

Agatsuma Zenitsu – Demon Slayer

The overly-anxious, extremely emotional, and completely insecure Zenitsu is in great need of some therapy. The kid is scared of absolutely everything. Then, his grandpa commits seppuku because the kid he has loved like a brother becomes a demon. That has to create some deep trauma that he has to work through.

What are some characters you think need therapy?

  1. maybe all of the above but i think it’s also part of their charm

    1. True. And we do see 2 out of the 3 work through some of their issues on their own. Yuno is just special lol
