When I turned 40, I was pretty unaffected. It was just another number, just another day.

However, FORTY-FIVE. This one hit like a bag of bricks, man. I looked in the mirror and thought, man. I look old. I feel old. This sucks.

I do have to say that those around me made me feel loved. Despite me having my “moment,” they made sure I felt the love.

My co-worker is awesome. She really is. There are few people in the world that I’ve met that I thought they were awesome. She got me a gift card to Pappadeux’s and it was amazing.

I got the fried catfish and shrimp. It was exactly what my soul needed. I thought of her the whole time and how I am blessed the firm hired her. She brings a ray of sunshine to the place. Not only that, but she always coordinates the signing of birthday cards. It is so thoughtful.

Since my birthday was on a weekday, we only went out to eat and didn’t do anything else. My sister sent me a trio of Nothing Bundt Cakes, so I was very, very happy. My other sister sent me some “mad money”. I bought a cute RJ (BT21/BTS) bag and some hair pins.

I am about to go get my nails done. A little pampering courtesy of my Mom. 45 is looking…okay LOL.
